Good Vibes and Maggot Love Needed

Well, I haven't posted around these parts much lately but right now I need some seriouse good vibes and I know of no better place to come.....

My wife, Kori, is 32 weeks pregnant and went into labour this morning. We went to the hospital at around 11 am and after having 5 different people flying around her sticking her with all kinds of needles and setting up an IV or two the decided to transfer her by ambulance to the hospital in Lethbridge where they have better facilities to handle early babies. I wasn't able to ride with her in the ambulance but I was supper freaked out because they where really worried she would give birth enroute and sent a doctor and 2 nurses with her. I got to the delivery suite and they had given her some magnesium to try and at least slow down if not stop the labour all together along with some steriods to help the babys lungs develop faster to prevent resperatory problems if it was going to come.

They got things under control and sent us down for an ultrasound to check on the baby. The kid is small but healthy and we where able to find out that we are having another mini maggette.

We where kept in a delivery suite all day so that they could monitor her and our little girl. As of eight o'clock the contractions are still happening regularly but are mild and they have decided to keep her at the hospital indefinately untill the baby comes or things are 100% under control. The baby has dropped and is ready to come but she's sitting breach so if anything happens they will have to do a cicarian (sp?).

I know she's in the best place she can be right now and in good hands but I, and especially my little Grace, could really use some good vibes, maggot love right now. I'll update tommorow for those that are interested.

Good luck man. I was born 2.5 months early via Caesarian and turned out just fine, and that was in '78, so worry not, your little girl will make it along with Mom A-ok. Hang in there!

Like Lane said..stay strong, medicine is pretty amazing nowadays. My wife is 6.5 months pregnant with our first child(little girl), i'm scared to death of the problems that can happen. I guess all we can do is trust in the doctors wisdom, God bless and good vibes bro +++

We went through almost that exact scenario last year--they were all sure delivery would happen the morning we went in, but it held off for another week (not a fun week). She was born a day shy of 34 weeks, and while we had to have her in the NICU for 19 days, all ended well.
PM me if you like, and good luck. It'll be OK.

    Thumbs up

This scenario is one that they (the du) are very well trained for. Good luck and good vibes. It's scary, but you'll get through OK.

Sorry to hear about the extra worry for you and your wife. Prayer does help.

All 5 of our kids had to have some form of extra medical attention after their birth. And they all turned out OK. Except for the Meat Bros.

I'm glad you where able to get your dear wife to the hospital, where they can give her the right care.
I want a 6" travel 20lb MTB. I found the 20lb MTB, but only good for riders under 87 pounds.

Well the contractions stopped late last night so Kori should be coming home today. She'll be on bed rest though so we'll still have to find somebody to help out with Grace during the day. Thanks for giving me a place to vent my frustrations last night and thanks for the love.

Thoughts and prayers going out to you, Kori, and Grace. The joy of having two little girls in your life will far outweigh all the stress you are going through right now. Keep us posted Ben.

Well, everyone is home and doing well. Kori is on total bedrest, but we've got a few friends and family that have offered to come over and help her out as much as possible. They want to try and hold things off for at least two weeks and up to four. After that the kids allowed to come (doctors words). Today my 87 year old grandpa who can barely get around, but was once one of the most respected surgeons in Canada, had my grandma drive him 60 miles to the hospital so he could check on her and talk with her doctor. Once again thanks everyone for your prayers and such. Its times like this when you truly appreciate the value of friends and family.

    Great news.
Make sure she's got plenty of reading material. Catch up on old movies, etc. As long as she rests. Sometimes it's very hard to sit and basically do nothing for weeks.

it sounds like they have things under control. Neo-natal medicine is amazing these days - they have gotten quite used to early arrivals. Best wishes and congratulations to your family.
