OK, I'll give it shot. First time doing full fenders and like I said, nothing in the instructions about trimming the stays.

    J.H.C. ,
My son and I replaced the pivot bearings on his BMC, rebuild his Pike shock, and I replaced the bearing in my DT front hub. Guess which task invoked the most cussing and misery?
Whomever designed that front hub should be shot. I took the dremel and cut some notches on the inside sleeve so I can get the bearings out next time without totally killing it. WTF?!

Bearings with a captured sleeve between the bearings are some of the most difficult to service. (BSB, bearing-spacer-bearing).
This is most often found on free hubs or double sided suspension linkage bearings. As long as the sleeve has a bit of wiggle room to expose the bearing lip, you can punch out the bearing, or use a blind hole bearing puller.

AltAlt developed a great tool for this. They developed an eccentric bearing tool that is specifically designed to pulled BSB bearings.

His tools are super well designed, produced as economically as possible to pass the savings on to the customer, and has many videos to show how to use the tools.
Here is a video explaining how to use the tool, and why it was specifically designed work in that way.

I have a multitude of bearing presses from multiple companies, but wish I had a full kit from AltAlt.

Thanks for linking that. I have their original bearing press kit and it's a fantastic value, saving hundreds compared to a similar setup from Wheels or similar. I have a handful of blind pullers, but they're kind of a pain in the ass to use since it seems to usually take a few tries to get enough friction so that the hammering pops them out.

Andeh, read this before you purchase anything else (this should be in tool talk, but the Sprocket Rocket Forum is so small, I feel we read most post):

WORKSHOP Threaded #6: Obsessed with smoothly removing cartridge bearings

I'm pretty sure it's not behind a paywall, I signed out of my membership and could still read it.

When I said blind pullers, I was referring to Wheels bearing expanders in that article. Like he says, they're less likely to screw stuff up than a pin punch, but sometimes the amount of force required for them to maintain grip also crushes the bearings a bit and adds to the difficulty.

My interest in expanding my Alt-Alt kit falls in line with this quote from the end of the article: "You may not need it now, but (maybe) one day you will." I've been able to remove and reinstall (without any pin punching) every bearing I've needed to on my bikes thus far, but less cursing and time spent is worth the $$ to me. On my GG, when I would go to replace the bearings (necessary a few times per year), 75% would come out easily but those remaining 25% (needing expanders) would take as long as the rest. Plus I'd like to support the Alt-Alt guy for all the effort he's put into his documentation/diagrams.

Thanks for the link, I have a pretty nice bearing press set and blind bearing bearing pullers for my frame bearings.
I just notched the ends of the sleeve so I can get at the bearings next time.
Looking at that image, I think I can rig something similar with a socket extension and the right size socket for next time.

Strava needs to allow you to filter activity types you see in your feed.

There's a "dont publish to home or club feeds" check box when you're saving/editing a ride on the app (down at the bottom). I usually try to remember to check that for my commutes and like warm up/cool down rides at races and stuff.

The only social sites I'm on are this one and strava. And strava being primarily people I know irl it's just banter back n forth in the comments. I have idiot friends posting mowing their lawn just to get shit throwing started. It just a humor outlet.

I have my Strava Privacy Settings on "Only You". Nobody see my activity until I decide to publish it. Garmin Watch or Garmin Edge on the bike automatically saves on Garmin Connect, automatically uploads to Strava, but it does not publish to the activity on Strava to the the world.
I can edit, label, crop, upload photos, after the ride and or choose to publish to 'Everyone,' 'Followers' or Only Me'.

I'd much rather see that than "I took my dog for a shit at the park down the street."

    or

"I spent 45 minutes in the car afterwards coming up with a witty title."

I’m guilt of the Zwift rides, I have hidden them in the past, but only have 2 so far this year. Haha.
I’d like to add lift served skiing to this list.

Ha! This is spot on. I've also noticed a increase in lawn mowing, dog walking, wood stacking, etc. Strava posts.

Oh no. I post one run or a lift ride up or just a random whatever just so I can rub it in friends face that I'm skiing and they're not. Can't take this strava shit seriously...can you? And I have plenty of fast friends with kom's and shit, but none of them care. I know there are plenty out there that do, but those people annoy tf out me. Actually one guy I know doesn't post on strava because he'd kom most everything around (with an Up) and he's embarrassed about it. He does race xc and wins most everything he enters though.

IDGAF about KOMs or Local Legends or any of that crap on Strava. I do like to see where people are riding, either to know what's riding good or just to be jealous of them. That includes if they get a day at the resort riding lifts (ski or bike). I do even like to see some guys' commute rides because they take some pretty awesome photos of sunrises or sunsets going over the hill. But none of the Zwift or Peloton or whatever workout shit means anything to me. All it is is artificial maps or some random photo of the virtual trainer.

So yeah, give us the ability to filter out activity types we don't care about.

Sorry. If you've seen my stats I'd have assumed you'd know I wasn't purposely trying to share them or anything. New to this.

Yes, this is what I should have ranted about. It shouldn't be on the person logging the activity.

You can mute people from your feed or just unfollow? Do you guys follow random people that you don't know?

And yeah, I do like to see conditions and pics of rides from my friends.

I have a couple of acquaintances following me because we grew up in the same town. One gave me some shit about building trails and the only time I saw the guy was on said trails...wtf?...so I blocked him and went private. Private has been a good thing.

    .
Nope. But I have friends that do really cool and big rides in the summer that I like to see, but then they’ll also go ski laps on the WROD in Nov/Dec and that shit gets posted too.

Also, IMO KOMs and leaderboards are dope as long as they don’t involve cheater lines or obsessive behavior like resident UT kook Slyfox. (Though it’s been a few years, there’s a lot more fast people and Slyfox has probably continued to expand)

I have friends that will post 4x a day on Strava for “morning weightlifting” “lunchtime dog walk” “watopia” “stretching,” etc. Seems excessive and mildly annoying but I don’t look all that often.

I make everything private by default now, mostly so coworkers don’t know when I’m biking or skiing.

While we’re talking about Strava… why can’t they add your total descent to the stats for a ride? I can do the math myself, but it would be a nice summary stat.
