I think that word was used in the song "Nemesis" by Shriekback.

Had rain all day yesterday. Strong gusty winds picked up around 6pm and blew all night. Max gust was 50mph, blew 30mph. With all the leaves still on the trees it sure makes for a lot of noise. Today is supposed to be calm and sunny until the big show tomorrow.

Still powered on Union Hill; it blew loudly and poured last night but calmed by 5:00 am.

We're getting the tail end of things here in Winnemucca. No rain, but the forecast was calling for 30 mph winds. It's a giant dust Storm outside right now. The dust is thick enough I can't see the mountain across town, and if you go outside your eyes just start to itch and feel like they are full of sand. Tumbleweeds blowing down the street.

    Not many people notice.. thanks.

The wind missed us last night, probably due to being on north facing slope? Poured all night... and very windy driving in and as soon as we were few blocks away from our sheltered spot.

Picking up a little Yamaha generator tonight after many years of not getting around to it and having been caught in a bunch of long power outages.

Poured rain all day yesterday and through the night with over an inch at the Spokane airport. Considering our average annual rainfall is 16.5", that's quite a bit. It got windier overnight with a max gust of 44 but this morning is blue sky and not as windy. The wind is supposed to pick up with 25-35 mph and gusts to 47 today but no rain again until tomorrow with lighter winds. We're not getting as hammered as the west side but still, not a great weekend.

Up north by Ephrata, just a LOT of rain...for here, no wind yet, expected in a few hours.

Smells like something is burning now. Wind and dust have slowed, now it's just smoky.

    As the song goes......

I was toting my pack along the long dusty Winnemucca road
When along came a semi with a high canvas covered load
If your goin' to Winnemucca, Mack with me you can ride
And so I climbed into the cab and then I settled down inside
He asked me if I'd seen a road with so much dust and sand

It rained hard all night at my house, but didn't really hear any wind gusts. Did hear a nice thunder boom this morning, though!

I feel like the forecasts may be pointing to a glancing blow for Seattle rather than a direct hit, but there's still a chance it could be "historic." I'll be as ready as I can be. I'm glad to have a gas stove and fireplace in the house.

PSE did a hell of a job restoring my power after less than 2 hours this morning. The day has been all over from sunlight to downpour with crazy gust pockets and weird fucking howls in the trees. Just experienced an outage that lasted maybe 30 seconds. I'm ready for anything, nothing new for this boy. Even moved my kids bed from the upper floor danger zone till Sunday.

The PSE app is pretty sweet if you haven't seen it. Shows whether your power is on when you're not home and slick map interface of outages in your area/time to fix estimates.
