"timberridge is terminally vapid" -- a fortune cookie in Yueyang
State of Emergency declared for the entire SC coast this afternoon. I took off and got the house shuttered up, water off, valuables stored, boat triple-tied down with room for substantial water rise. Evacuation set to begin tomorrow. Definitely an eerie calm before the storm vibe in the plantation as many people were packing up and leaving. I sure as shit was glad I didn't have to hit up Home Depot because that place was a zoo as I passed it heading towards the island.
Wonder if we'll find a gator in the pool like we did after the last big storm.
Sure do hope that this thing dies down before making it to Low Country.
I still call it The Jake.
Good luck

New graph says NE may be saved. SE looks fucked though. The exact predicted path... is scary.

From my Facebook feed the only morons who think this will be a party are pompous asses from Terre Haute borrowing their relatives condo on the inter-coastal side of the island. Life in Indiana might do that to a person. I hope they're right, been a long time, and a complete rebuild, since we last had a hurricane party. It's not as fun as getting snowed in, I assure these dumbfucks.

Looking like it will miss the NE as of this morning. SE looking to take a beating.

I'm about to hop in a car and drive to Tampa to pick up a new-to-me car. Little sketched out right now.
"One season per year, the gods open the skies, and releases a white, fluffy, pillow on top of the most forbidding mountain landscapes, allowing people to travel over them with ease and relative abandonment of concern for safety. It's incredible."
Looks like my fishing plans for the long weekend might not be interrupted too much... Good luck to you guys down there.
I don't know how accurate this map is, but I've had it bookmarked for a few years fun to watch storms develop and see what fronts effect their patterns:

Wow that's a drastic change in the track. Doesn't do BMillls and good unfortunately, but the NE looks to have dodged a bullet at this point.
THX for posting that link. I have a similar map showing winds on CONUS.

Flew to FL to assist my Mom who is alone in Delray Beach, FL. Looks to hit square upon us at this point. Hoping the intl community pulls together to assist Haiti.
Thanks fellas. I got going early today and I'm glad I did. It's going to be an absolute shitshow. Mandatory evacuation starts at 3 and there's going to be a ton of pissed off people who went to the mainland for supplies who realize they can't get back to the coast or back on the island 'cause all the highways are turned one way.
The gas shortage to begin with was already bad. I'm guessing lots of people looking for fuel today.

I love the message to those morons who think hanging around will be a party:“A tree comes down across your house, you are trapped there and the major hurricane-force winds are blowing across Beaufort County, we’re not coming until the wind subsides,” Baxley said. “Because it’s just as dangerous to us.
We’re not immune to those injuries; we’re not immune to trees falling on patrol cars or ambulances.”

sweet- my inlaws were in the outer banks and headed back to HHI to arrive this morning to get their dog and batten down the hatches on the house- hope they can get back on the island![]()

Not trying to be a dick but good luck to them. Spoke with a buddy who was heading back onto the Island coming back from Charleston and he's been turned back once and told to find an alternate route (sure with what bridge?). (It can be done but it's all about getting everyone who wants to evacuate out and then helping the one or two cars heading against the grain)
Standstill traffic for miles on US 278, US 17 and I heard I-16 out of Savannah is a parking lot too.
Once the main evacuation rush subsides (which in my experience is about 24 hours after it starts they should be able to get back on the island and the one-way traffic is lifted.
Finding gas will be impossible. Spoke to our handyman who keeps an eye on the house for us when no ones there and he said gas stations are done anywhere near HHI/Bluffton/Beaufort and probably out in SAV too.

Spk with them about an hour ago and they were home and getting the house ready to head out so all seems to be ok.
Wish were closer to help them move stuff to the upper floors etc though.
