For the rest of you, your Epic Pass now works in Europe (hand clap)

You should post up some KT22, Snowbird tram, or Jackson tram line photos from some big report days, ya know, for comparison.

Vail Resorts is an amazing business. Unfortunately they could give two shits about anything but maximizing skier numbers. $175 to stand in that after 1 powder run.

Actually, Vail's awesome. Everyone should check out all the new terrain opening up.

how about actual decent skiable terrain. Unless your playing around in EV Vail is a pretty darn flat mountain that gets boring quick

I never skied Vail. I assume the ticket clerks there put a gun to everyone's head and force people to buy a ticket?

For some more fun Vail Resorts tidbits:

    Domain Name: vailsucks.com
    Registrant Name: Vail Resorts
    Creation Date: 1998-04-21

    Domain Name: burnvail.com
    Creation Date: 1998-11-20
    Registrant Name: Vail Trademarks

Those old domains were legendary.... Then Fail bought them out, or took them over with cease and desist notices.

yeah, funny, though. There are a bunch of core skiers here, mainly from the east, who secretly would go down on the CEO of Vail if they saved their favorite but troubled home hills from oblivion. Like thats ever going to happen.

Yawn...the old "Vail's not EXTREME enough" argument.
It's not my cup of tea either, but plenty of people seem to have a really good time there, year after year, on their "actual decent skiable terrain", and that's really all that matters.

I enjoy skiing Vail Mtn. There are some great locals there and some ridiculous backcountry skiing in the Valley. However I loathe Vail Resorts.

As much as there is to be said about VR, that is an insane addition of amazing terrain to add to the pass.

Read the fine print. They get you on lodging.

Vail Resorts is a typical large corporation. whatever. And Vail is not a particularly steep mountain. whatever. I have had a hell of a lot of fun there, though. And I sure am glad that people love to go there so much, now that I don't ski there.

The lodging piece doesn't matter. I was in France and got my 5 day ticket for Les 3 Vallées. I went online, saw which lodging properties were listed, put that address on my lift ticket form and got the tickets. No validation at all.

haha, yup. There are so many great places to ski that aren't epic but have even better uncrowded skiing. whatever though, I see it as crowd management. The more people with epic the less crowding the other places.

I'm guessing that non-resort lodging + lift tix is less expensive than much of the available "resort" lodging + free epic tix.
But I'm too lazy to actually do the math. (Although I'm not tool lazy to post about it)

Vail Fail, Epic Pass now works in Europe

I love that this group gets all rowdy about business decisions by Vail. I interviewed for a fairly senior level role there this past year and it is clearly evident, in case you couldn't figure it out, that they care more about catering to people that are more into architectural digest than TGR ski films. A #2 in the company actually told me that they don't even consider any ski resort in the world competition, they consider themselves competing in the high end lodging industry. Leisure is their focus, skiing is at best tertiary.

Going to Vail and bitching about lines is like bitching about traffic when leaving for work at 7:30am...go for a few runs, maybe a shot at a powder day in EV or Blue Sky and get drunk at Red Lion Or Garfienkels, people watch and eat late night pizza at Vendetta's, end of story.
