    NFL 2016/2017

My poor boyfriend finally gets to have a decent team.
He's been a browns fan since he was a little boy.
    Man understands broken heart.

One does not simply choose to be a Cleveland fan.

I stated reading this thinking it was a haiku. Maybe it was the avatar.

Intriguing stuff, still some big names out there. It's only been a month but I'm already(/still) excited about NFL

I'm starting to believe the Pats really won't trade Garappolo. They must really think he's the real deal. Belichick, unlike Pats fans, is too rational to believe Brady will be the best payer in the world at age 42.

Personally I don't think they'll trade Jimmy G either. But the reality is he's a FA next year, and if Tom is still playing and starting, there's no way that Bill will want to sign a backup QB, regardless if he's the future, to a huge deal as long as Brady is around. On that same note, he could franchise tag him, but still, does he really want to be paying his backup QB more than Tom Fucking Brady?

I have a feeling that Bill is just driving the price tag up on Garrappolo but he may have overplayed his hand. There was until yesterday a lot of teams that were after him, now there's pretty much just the Browns. And how much do you really pay to get a guy that was a second rounder and has only played a couple NFL games?

That said, the Browns have silly assets right now and are doing very un-Brown like things.

There's so many different moves they could make and one that was plausible to me was take your 3 second round picks you have next year (which is nuts on it's own) and trade up to get the QB you want in a very QB heavy draft. In the meantime Osweiler/Kessler plugs the hole in the half sinking ship for one year.

13 months, you go from the Broncos -> Texans -> Browns.
Should have taken the cash they offered you.

How high can Bill drive up the price? Dude is a free agent next year. Are the Browns (or anyone) going to trade a first and what...a fourth...for 1 year of Jimmy G (at a great price)? Fuck no. At best they then franchise him for 2 years at a zillion dollars...and then what?

If anyone were to trade for him, I'm thinking Houston. That one year of cheap plus a good QB makes them somewhat a player next year, and they now have a ton of salary cap space to actually sign him long term (and they've shown a willingness to sign unproven QBs to big deals). Jimmy G and Bill OBrien never overlapped in NE but I'm sure they see things similarly in terms of offense, and Bill has been able to analyze JG game film. Again, not likely, but I think a better case than any other team.

Side note- how about the Malcolm Butler for Brandin Cooks rumors?

What I've heard is that if the Browns or anyone for that matter do trade for Jimmy G, that they will insist a new contract gets worked out. Otherwise you're back to square one and that isn't worth a first and whatever. I've heard multiple 2nds as the starting point.

    RGIII cut by the Browns.

    2 career TDs with Cleveland.

So long as there is someone in Browns FO who knows personnel, and a decent coach (which Jackson seems to be), I like the analytics approach.

In other news, Kap won't take knee anymore and the Niners signed Hoyer! We should easily double our win total with that blockbuster!

Interesting. Signing a former Brown. I like it.

They'll stil be looking QB in the draft though which Cleveland will have to consider.

I am surprised the Bills kept Tyrod; all the tea leaves said he was out of there.
I don't think he's bad, but he's not great either. New contract still gives the team an easy out so they might be eyeing QBs high in the draft.

What's this about Washington's GM up and disappearing during the combine? I thought Sark was in ATL?

    Stephon Gilmore
    Dwayne Allen
    Brandon Cooks

Superbowl Champs are NOT sitting on their heels. I love it. Can't remember the Pats ever making this many offseason moves and giving up this many draft picks..

Probably because they know they'll get a few back from Cleveland when they ship Jimmy G to em.

So Deflategate is almost at an end. They also had to give up their (first) 4th Rd pick which was #132 overall. In Cooks trade they ended up getting 4thRd #118 which means they now lose that one and get #132 back. Look for Bill to trade #118 to as close to #131 as possible even if it is just for a 7th rd in the 2030 draft. Bill will get more, but yeah, he will find a way to work it.
