    Cheaters

And a lot higher, at that. According to the Journal’s analysis of these schools’ records from the 2014-’15 school year, there were 5.1 reports of cheating for every 100 international students—compared with just one per every 100 domestic students. At some colleges, the rate of cheating was more than eight times higher for the former than the latter. “Students from China were singled out by many faculty members interviewed,” the Journal reported.

Not really. I moonlighted at a mid-tier MBA program when I was in grad school. It was chock full of Chinese and Middle Eastern bros. They all cheated routinely.

I've got a buddy who taught as an adjunct in China for a couple years. They replaced him (and any other western faculty) with a native-born proctor on test days to facilitate the cheating. It's pretty bad.

damn. The thread title was misleading. I was looking for a piece of pipe yesterday to use as a cheater on a socket wrench. Stubborn bolt. I couldn't find any pipe around the house so I gave up.

This is just an observation, I'm not judging, but cheating isn't really a big deal in Asia the way it is in the West and especially the US. It's just a cultural difference.

I clerked for a federal court of appeals in the US, and my judge visited Russia the year prior to my clerkship. He told stories about how, when he met with judges in Russia, they asked about corruption in the US and he told them that in 25 years of being a federal judge he had never had anyone attempt to bribe him or otherwise try to unduly influence his court opinions. He said every single Russian judge laughed and refused to believe him. Definitely seems to be a cultural thing.

I think this screws us up in international politics. Everybody cheats and expects everyone else to do the same, but here we come, big dopey ol' 'Murica, thinking everything is as it seems, and then we get knifed in the back

Well, it is probably mostly a puritanical thing that is most prevalent in the US and originating in England and Northern Europe. Sorry for that oversimplification.
