I was given the name Big Steve by members of the PNW ultrarunning community, among whom I am indeed quite big (heaviest finisher in 88 of 88 ultra finishes). But I'm not that big among TGR mags. And I turned 60 and figured that being big is a misguided aspiration at my age. I've always been a DIY guy, always changed my own oil, built 100+ bicycle frames, built a couple thousand wheels, machined spare parts for lots of things, built my framebuilding jigs and fixtures, sewn outdoor gear, do my own wiring, mounted skis, made a few knives, etc., etc., etc.
