    Looks like she finally did.

Not a bad sentence imho...200 hours community service, 2 years probation, a 2 year ban from National Parks, BLM, and USFS lands, and a fine that has yet to be set.

Getting off easy. Only hope is the fine is significant.

The fine is definitly the key to all this but I wouldn't say it's "easy". 2 years probation and 200 hours of community service is pretty great and I assume she had no priors. I think it's a pretty decent message.

Anyone know what did those boyscout douchebags in Utah got for goblin valley?

It said "NO Swimming" near the water

    Umm, OK

Hmmm...didn't see this thread before I wrote about the Nebraska family.

But I don't believe the kid was swimming. He was playing ALONGSIDE the water. I am not sure if the sign alluded to alligators, or if it simply said No Swimming, which the kid was in compliance of.

Besides, what is a Nebraska family to know about alligators.

"Officials were unable to retrieve Colin's body on June 7, so they returned the following morning, but the body was no longer visible, according to the report.

“Evidence suggests that the extreme heat and the acidity of the water quickly dissolved his body in the hot spring,” according to the report, which stated his causes of death was ‘”scalding due to submersion in thermal hot spring.”"

    Touron questions I've been asked:
RMNP- "Is the snow cold? How do they get it up there?"
Denali Basecamp- "Where do I get my water?" Your standing on it, man.
Death Valley- "I didn't know I can't drive my rental out on to the sand dunes. How am I gonna get out?" Buried to the frame.
ZNP- "I have a permit for the Subway. Where do I pick up the train to get there?"
My first year working for the Park Circus I watched some fool try to feed a bull elk w/ a huge harem a PBJ sandwich. "Don't do that dumbass." I got reported.

Reminds me of what they told my son when he was working on patrol--"What do you call a guy who ducks a rope, sets off a slide, and gives you a lot of lip when you catch him?" "A guest."

Guy walks into a bank, "says" he has a gun, escapes on bicycle. The idiots are the people who let him get away with it.

Jesus that girl is going to have some serious PTSD watching her brother cook alive.

Sable told park officials she recorded the journey on her cell phone, and captured Colin's fall on her cell phone

Near Little Hot Springs Valley is Bumpass Hell, which is a hydrothermally altered geothermal area that spans 16 acres (65,000 m²) and has hot springs, fumaroles, and boiling mud pots. It is named after Kendall Vanhook Bumpass, a miner who worked in the Lassen area in the 1860s. K.V. Bumpass discovered the area and was named on a mining claim for the area. In 1865 the editor of the Red Bluff Independent newspaper took a trip with Bumpass to see the locale. During this trip K.V. Bumpass broke though a thin crust above a boiling mud pot, his leg was badly scalded and eventually had to be amputated. The area was named in his honor.

There is reputedly a rock under Granite Chief lift at Squaw named after the patroller who tried to plant a Cliff Area sign on top from the chair and fell off the chair in the process. (And then there is Schimmelpfennig Bowl at Squaw, named after long time patroller and NSP director Wes Schimmelpfennig---by Wes Schimmelpfennig. After he planted homemade signs for years they made if official. Wes retired from patrol a couple of years ago at 70 but still works as a starter at Tahoe Donner GC.)

Friend of mine went to climbing school in Banff as a college student. Swiss guide, takes them on a climb called Gonda Traverse. He asked the guide why the name, "Ach, dees is vere Gonda died, ha ha." (Not true apparently).

Then there's Sluie's or Stuie's--can't remember which--in Flute Bowl at WB. Named after a guy killed in a slide there, which I found out at the bottom of the slope after I skied it on a powder day, from a guy who told me he had set off the whole slope ski testing it after the previous storm.

I don't know if this is actually true, but I heard a story that one of the side country runs at Crystal is called "Reynolds Wrap", after a guy named Reynolds who wrapped himself around a tree, and wasn't found for a few days.

Not surprising if you consider they stop at the pot shop first. Someone should make a video of the non heads coming in and getting heady in a strange land.
