FWIW, I tried using a 177 WD108 as my West Coast (Oregon) daily driver the last 2 seasons, and for next season am trying a 182 WD110. The WD108 was stiff enough to handle fully firm garbage but seemed sensitive to any tune issues (my tails were slightly edge high), and mostly it was very very unforgiving of mistakes or poor form in firm conditions. Once the snow would soften to have some kind of give to it, the ski became a lot more fun and I found the stiffness and power of the ski to be more useful once the snow had more than a few millimeters of give. I decided to try switching to the WD110 because the core is soooo much softer behind the boot that it is waaaay more forgiving and doesn’t demand a light skier like me (140-145 lbs) to be “on my game” all the time like the WD108 really wanted me to be. ON3P also moved the mount point back about 1 cm from the WD108 to the WD110. Kid-kapow recommended that I compensate for the much softer tail of the WD110 by upsizing to the 182, and I think he may have been right on with that advice.

However, I didn’t have a chance to really test the 110s I bought at the end of last season for personal / scheduling reasons. I’m looking forward to seeing how the WD110 slots in for me this year as my “better than garbage conditions” and “less than a foot or so of fresh” daily driving ski. I also would really love to A/B test the WD110 against the Praxis MVP108, might be a while before I save enough money to do that though.

I had metal Pivot 15s on the 108s and Pivot 14s will be on the 110s.
I’ve been debating my adding the last 187 Wds on the site to pair with my J118s I just picked up. With the wren leaving I’m assuming the woods will be getting more wren like next year. Whole line seems to be ready for an overhaul. Analysis paralysis has me between that 110 and the 102. Was also thinking about mounting plus 1 for a bit more tail. A bit gun shy after I had the first woodsman 108 when I was an Intermediate and didn’t know what I know now about skis/tunes. But it sounds like the tune is a non issue and I am a much better skier at this point. Does the Woods provide much more edge hood than the Jeff 110/102 on firm?

I have Jeff 186 108s and Woods 187 108s. I can get the Jeffs to hold well but it takes work. The Woods hold much better and getting them to hold is easier.

It should be said that I understand my Woods are stiffer than the newer 110s. I have not skied the 110s though so it’s hearsay.

I’ve never skied Jeffs but bought then sold woods 102s due to a lack of hard snow grip. My super goats are cold dead hands skis and I could see another ON3P soft snow ski being fun but I don’t see a narrow ON3P in my quiver as they don’t have the torsional stiffness to compete with the euros.

Pardon my ignorance, but I've been out of the loop for a little while: Is the BG gone from the lineup? They're gone from the website, at least.

Nope, I think it is just that the site has been modified to only show what is in stock, and possibly only show the skis that remain the same for 23/24 in the custom builder possibly (pure speculation, though it kinda makes sense - why acceept orders for skis/shapes/designs that are no longer produced due to them being tweaked).

There will be a fair few changes coming for 23/24 supposedly - though I have no idea what these are other than sweet new graphics for most/all models

Ah, I see! Thanks! I was just getting worried they decided to axe the BG, and I would feel pretty damn sad about that.

Anyone ever mounted a Jeffrey a bit back from the recommended line? I love the Wren 102ti for east coast hardpack and manmade snow, but love the looseness of the Jeffries in anything soft and trips out west. Sometimes, however, especially on the 186s (versus the 181s) I've found that the tail is a wee bit longer than I'd like, especially in tighter spaces like bumps. Any thoughts on mounting them 1 or 1.5cm back form the recommended? I only go "switch" when I'm in my car.

    Thank you!

That seems like a problem to me. Mine are mounted on the line but the whole idea of the ski is that it should be skied in an upright stance and surfed. Less tail and more tip would unbalance that.

I think the only time you should feel the tail is if you get kicked backseat a bit. Maybe try to get forward to a more neutral stance in the bumps? Unless the 186s really are too much for your body. What’s your height and weight?

Anyway mounting them back seems like it would screw up the way they are supposed to ski in anything but powder. Harder to hold an edge on hard pack, harder to stay balanced and quick in fun terrain.

Just my initial reaction. Haven’t tried it.

Thanks, EWG! I'm 6'2", 175 - I ski the 184 Wren 102 Ti and find it super easy and intuitive. I do like the upright stance of the Jeffrey 110 and easily released tail in soft stuff, but just curious about finding a middle ground of mounting slightly more back.

Yeah you are right in the wheelhouse of a 186 Jeff if you like the size. Tail grab in bumps is almost always due to being backseat so I’m just not feeling great about moving back to fix that.

Any chance you could get on a pair with demo bindings and try moving it back that way? I think it’ll ski weird back-mounted.

    ON3P SKIS Discussion

Prior to the Woodsman being introduced, it was quite common for people wanting a lean a bit towards all-Mtn style to mount Jeffrey’s -2-cm back of the line.

Since the Woodsman is more Wren than Jeffrey, still seems like a worthy consideration to me.

I have an older J114 mounted -1.5 due to hole conflict. I like the way it skis but it is only for 3d snow. I have a newer J110 mounted on the line. Mounting behind the line feels more forgiving if I end up on the tails but mounting on the line really helps with the “slarving”. Id be interested to hear how they work with a binding that can adjust from on the line to-2.

Thanks, everyone - given the feedback I'm going to mount on the line. Scott and crew tend to put a lot of thought into where to recommend the mount and I've loved my J108 181s on the line.

I have a pair of 186 Jeffreys 108s mounted -2 from the line and they ski a little funky, but I think it's the tune. I couldn't get them to easily grab and release on slushy/icy spring snow. With more focus and energy input from me, they were better. The skis are a slightly stiff pair of protos.

Also have a pair of 191 Jeffrey 108s mounted on the line and think it's perfect there. Slip through soft snow easily, get a solid edge on hard snow and easy to ski everywhere

I have demo’s on 181 Jeffs. I ski them at -1.5cm and like them, but I think part of the reason is I have Warden demos and it’s too much heel to toe drop for me on the line. I’d like to put Marker demos or Pivots on them.

I’ve had the jeff108 with demos and liked them at -1.5. Like someone mentioned, before the woodsman was introduced it was common to mount the Jeff back. I don’t think woodsman would as playful as I’d want. I like a playful ski but don’t spend any time in the park therefore a -1.5 Jeff is perfect.

I keep checking back every week to see if they are there. 2015 and 2017 were some of my favorite skis of all time. Both were different but so good. The performance was like a work of art, I thought Iggy was like ski design Devinci for a while.

Would love the annual Iggy pop in to learn more!

Curious about the Jeff/Wds 108 updates. I'm assuming a but more hard snow focus.
