hm, lengthwise a 190 DW is going to be about 2cm longer straight pull compared to a 186 Jeff. When comparing jeff110s and DWs the 190 DW slots in directly between the 186 and 191 J110s wrt effective edge.

The j118 is not going to lack for float, but your take seems pretty uncontroversial: 186, more playful, easier to pivot, lighter, still jeff118 so good float and ability to smash through or pop off stuff, 191 -> just more of everything.

You could give em a call and see if the have any 191 factory finds coming too.

If not the 186s sure seem mighty tempting at that price. If they end up being shorter / less chargy than you think the 191 could provide better then passing them on at a slight loss (as the anchor price will be the retail price, not the sale price) will probably not impossible.

The outgoing graphic is freaking amazing too. I have a hard time seeing how the 23/24 ski could look better.

Well this is interesting…. I would love a blister pod or a post from iggy to hear all the tweaks.

I think snagging a 118 in the 186 and moving up if needed is the way.

Skied both the Wren 98/96/102/108 and Woodsman 96/108 not the Wren Pro

Follow up thought that I’d likely love the Woodsman if I didn’t know the Wren. They don’t differ materially but since they coexist, we find the nuances.
I can barely find any Woodsman 110 reviews anywhere. I really want to know (for months I've wanted to know) how they compare to Wildcat 118s. I love Wildcat 118s for their firm snow performance and daily drivability for such a wide ski. I could ski them all day everyday, it's one of the bi-directional skis I really enjoy. I wondering if I'd find the Woodsman similarly good. I am really looking for this type of ski, and do want something thinner than 118 now. Did not love the thinner Wildcats as much as the 118, did not find them much better on firm nor as good across weird or obviously deep conditions.

Thinking an On3p core would help with the Woods 110. I did like the feel of some 2015 Jeffrey 114s, besides the tune issue they had.

I did not love the Wren 108s. I liked them, but I felt I couldn't get them to hook up on firm-ish snow and link turns the way I wanted. I had an easier time on some wider, older Wrens on firmer snow.

I did love Viciks, Tychoons, and then in 2015 On3p sent me these athlete custom 114.5mm underfoot Wren beast things. I called them 192 Wren Comps. I don't know what they actually were called, what the layup was, or where they are now, but I know ChugachJed on here had them for a minute.

Those Wren things were so damn good. Felt almost like a wider, soft snow orientated Dynastar Pro Rider. Just without metal, but a beefy, thick On3p core. Easier to ski than a Pro Rider, but still pretty hooked up and locked in for serious charging. They were significantly better than the Wren 108s on firm snow, and just as floaty in soft snow, just not as loose.

These Wren things were up there with my favorite chargers of all time like 191 2012-2014 Katanas, 191 Monster 108s, and Pro Riders. If On3p made more of them I'd buy a pair at MSRP hands down, and I'm broke as a joke.

After thinking about it, I really don't need another directional charger now though. My entire quiver consists of them, like 8 older ones I hoard lol, and then one Armada ARG. I need a bi directional ski.

I read awhile back that we had mixed feelings in here. Im 6’1 210 and usually on a 190 DW. Thinking the 186 would be more of a fun option while the 191 maybe a bit more chargy. Thoughts?
I’m 6’3 200 and had a 191 jeff108, have 186 jeff116, and have a 190 dwt. For my tastes/mountain/crew I ski with the 186 is a better fit. More of that playfulness that I love about the jeff. I might feel different if my home mountain was whistler, etc.

What’s the mount point on the current 186 Jeffrey 110?

    6,1 190lbs and I’ve had both the 186 and 191 k116(now J118 but whatever).
The 191 is a step up from a 190 moment, the 186 is closer but a tiny step down.

You’d probably be just fine on the 186 and actually prefer it at Alta

Dope. I think 186 is the way. Also thinking about going -1 to give me a touch more tip. I have religiously mounted things on the line in the past though.

Makes sense to me. I had demo bindings on mine and settled somewhere in the -1 to -1.5 range. I like a playful ski but do not spin/flip. You’ll love them, they’re my favorite ski

Shit.. Love to hear that. I also don't spin or flip but have realized I have way more fun on "freestyle" skis.

There's a pretty sweet factory find pair, too. Now you guys got me thinking. I'm usually a 192 ON3P guy, but this 186 talk has me intrigued.

I really think I’m gonna love them and at $599 I won’t take much of a hit if I sell. Really don’t think I’m going to though. Lots of love in this thread for the j118.

I know I can’t wait to get mine on snow next year! Didn’t get a chance to try them out yet and I’m so curious how they compare to my old Caylor’s (now in Tuco’s hands).

How does the Woodsman 110 handle firm-ish snow? Just in the case of west coast daily driving. I have other skis for low tide

Based on my experience with the Woods 108 (187) they will be above average for a ski of that width. Compared to your Katana 108’s, they will be lacking.

I gravitate towards wide skis that perform well above average for their width, in terms of firm-ish, refrozen off piste crap. Unless the skis are over 125mm wide or nichey like a Billy Goat, I've always sold skis quickly if they can't handle a decent amount of laps in any sort of funky half firm crap. I love skis that make skiing crappy conditions more fun and easy.

I've sold a few On3ps quickly because of this, however I thoroughly enjoyed most On3ps. I loved Viciks and some 115mm Wrens from the past. I also liked Kartel 108s on firm, and I never had any issues with Billy Goats on semi-firm spots. However I was super meh on Jeffrey 114s and Wren 108s on firm, less manipulatable on firm than even Billy Goats for me, weirdly. I also hated Kartel 118s on anything remotely solid. Can't quite put my finger on why all this was the case.

I've been having paralysis by analysis on the Woodsman 110 and where it will fit into the mix, since the ski came out a couple years ago now. Maybe I'm just too broke to buy skis before trying, unless it's like a "katana" and pretty much guaranteed to have that crap snow performance.

    ON3P SKIS Discussion

FWIW, I tried using a 177 WD108 as my West Coast (Oregon) daily driver the last 2 seasons, and for next season am trying a 182 WD110. The WD108 was stiff enough to handle fully firm garbage but seemed sensitive to any tune issues (my tails were slightly edge high), and mostly it was very very unforgiving of mistakes or poor form in firm conditions. Once the snow would soften to have some kind of give to it, the ski became a lot more fun and I found the stiffness and power of the ski to be more useful once the snow had more than a few millimeters of give. I decided to try switching to the WD110 because the core is soooo much softer behind the boot that it is waaaay more forgiving and doesn’t demand a light skier like me (140-145 lbs) to be “on my game” all the time like the WD108 really wanted me to be. ON3P also moved the mount point back about 1 cm from the WD108 to the WD110. Kid-kapow recommended that I compensate for the much softer tail of the WD110 by upsizing to the 182, and I think he may have been right on with that advice.

However, I didn’t have a chance to really test the 110s I bought at the end of last season for personal / scheduling reasons. I’m looking forward to seeing how the WD110 slots in for me this year as my “better than garbage conditions” and “less than a foot or so of fresh” daily driving ski. I also would really love to A/B test the WD110 against the Praxis MVP108, might be a while before I save enough money to do that though.

I had metal Pivot 15s on the 108s and Pivot 14s will be on the 110s.
