IMHO, I don’t think so. When I’m on groomed with my ASYM BG, I have to consciously leave a little weight on the tails so they remain in contact with the snow. This keeps them stable. If I try to drive the shovels, it unweights the tails and they feel hooky. I think it’s just a characteristic of RES. Just stand on ‘em and roll your ankles…when on groomers.

This has been a PNW Goat stoke week. I've been on my 191s all week and it just reminds me how I hope I die before these skis do. They just do everything I want in pow exactly how I want. Pivot, slash, smear, rail, crush, stomp, everything.

CascadeLuke, love to see a reunion of great loves! Those are hot, too.

Thanks for the response. I could be wrong but it doesn't feel like it has anything to do with the tails. While staying super centered, feels more like it's only the inside of the edge of the downhill ski which grabs and pulls uphill when turning. Not driving the tips at all.

Sounds like you might be weighting the downhill ski too much. BGs are a more of a two footed ski and if you weight the downhill ski too much they’ll sometimes do weird things.

I can definitely agree with this, took me some getting used to on groomers but once you figured it out. These things rip and are super stable at speeds.
Clocked myself going 120km/h without issue on soft groomers haha

Have the same pair in 186 and they were just amazing at Stevens this past week - Lapping Wildkatz through deep snow and tight trees is a dream with the BG

I'd second this, but from the perspective that the skinny goats also punch well above their waist width in pow. Unless you often find yourself in proper deep (50+ cm) and relatively low angle pow you're probably not going to be disappointed with the pow performance of the skinny goat.

I'm with Grinch on the spring ski too - it has to be a long, skinning-centric day where I know conditions will be mostly firm before I leave the skinny goats in the rack.

Ha OK, there's definitely something wrong with mine then. I wouldn't even consider opening these things up like that.

To confirm what I was feeling, this weekend I skied both my new 191 K2 Catamarans (first day on them, I'm in complete love btw) and the 189 asym BGs in similar conditions and it was a night and day difference. On soft groomers or any kind of hard-ishpack, had total control at all times on the K2s while the BG felt super grabby like they might rip my leg off at any moment. Going to take them in to get the bases ground flat and the edges reset.

    ON3P SKIS Discussion

Enjoyed some sloppy seconds this past Friday with my youngest. He got to try his sister’s Jessie 108’s. Really just short Jeffrey 108’s but opened up a whole new word to him. They were so loose he kept asking me why they felt like they had no edges. I kept trying to convince him that was a good thing. [emoji16]

Yet another epic day today on my Cease and Desists. Two+ feet at Alta, delayed road opening so several untracked laps. They are the perfect inbounds pow ski for me. Enough float for the deepest of deep with enough heft to ski chop as fast as I want. They are also perfectly well mannered on groomers. I have had Megawatts and a few different Lotus 120 versions and these are by far the most intuitive and predictable on the groomed. Cold dead hands ski for sure. Likely going to be on them again tomorrow..

Ordered some Moment Voyager 16s in a 102 brake width. Planning on slapping them onto some WD 102 Tours.

I'm thinking the 102 waist width with the big ON3P rocker will make the skis versatile, so I won't have a bad time I'm skiing 2D or 3D snow.

Just got some sweet WD110 tour from another Mag.

Thinking of mounting at -1, and I crazy, will I die?

The mount line seems pretty progressive.

Anyone done both on a WD110, line and -1?

I've mounted wd110s on the line and at +1 (to get more support out of the tails). They ski well either way.

WD110tours are softer in the rockered sections compared to the standard layup too, so I would not consider going back for myself, but that could be the ticket if you are biased toward driving the tips hard vs a more upright stance (like I've adopted) and want slightly less tail for peace of mind.

Also, keep in mind that they have a fair bit of splay, so I would not be overly concerned of the length out back. They are still fairly loose and easy to ski, especially at shallower edge angles.

You will totally die of course, but at least you'll be happy when you do.

I figured that was a mag dipping into the Katz trees on vintage billy goats.

I was on my sgn urrakkars in a norrona one piece. Living my best life on that Ballz deep day.

Hoping to mount up my veneer J118s with Cast. Any mounting tips specific to the fancy topsheet? Do they splinter or prone to something other than the typical volcano?

Anybody inquire with Scott regarding the possibility of a custom press? Say, the 16-'18 assym BG in a 187? Also, what possesses a man to mess with perfection?

Well, trigger pulled. Ordered new Jeffrey 118’s since they’re running the Spring deal of free custom bases (I love the SORRY! Of the eh ski? Bases) and free flex change (I like the softer flex, suits me better). Need to ping Tuco and see if he still wants the Caylors these will replace. Found a deal on some Armada blacked out SHT2 MNC 16 out of Euro and ordered those for these new sticks.

Just a few days on my 186 J118s but quite impressed thus far. Can drive a bit more than K108s I've skied in the past (I'm at -1 from recommended) though thats pretty anecdotal. Been on the 186 Blackops some this year too and I find the Jeffs quite a bit more lively, poppy and quicker to initiate. You kind of just think it and they do it. The Bops 118 need more effort to engage, feel a bit more cumbersome, though they are stiffer and can be driven harder through shovels. They are also the better carver. Both are very surfy and loose. Wouldn't sleep on the Jeffs. As some have said, they are quite dialed and refined at this point. $150 off spring sale too....

If ski companies didn't make new skis every year I wouldn't have to get new skis every year.

Super under appreciated on TGR. I will sing their praises till the end, or whenever I decide to switch back to BG's for the 5th time.
