biggest gmt800 issues seem to be with the 4 speed transmission and the afm. The 2009 has the 6 speed which seems more reliable I think. This truck has an hd coders afm delete and frequent oil changes so hopefully ok there but it is a risk .
avalanche bed is like 5.25ft which should be fine for a tail get pad when camping I think. I have a recon rack too that I can use when not towing

I think it's the later GMT900s with AFM. I have a 2003 Suburban which is GMT800 with the 5.3 and no AFM.
You are right I got the number wrong the 2009 is a 900
Good to see someone trolling for attention around here. TRGz is back babY!
I'm helpin a brother out, brother! How is a man supposed to afford Hobbs time if he's paying for a prematurely spent motor?! You, and Dan, are both welcome
Tuco, just giving shit. Yeah, a Geo should probably have the oil changed every time you change the gas. I prefer the Samurai, buddy of mine is restoring two of them right now.
Oil change intervals are about as controversial as flat pedals vs clipless.
All goodForum is still busted so I can't repost it, but back on pg 209 I posted a video about oil w/ and actual oil scientist and an engine builder whose warranties state 3k oil changes are a must to keep it in warranty.. Gist- you folks w/ 5-10 k oil changes are whack and you're fuckin your shit up. Super interesting vid that will end those "controversies".3k oil changes it is!!!
My '01 is slightly out of warranty, only 77,777K on it though. AMSoil has a program where you can send your oil in to test it and they'll tell you if you need a change or not. I would assume they have scientists too. Mobile1 has something similar. To your point though, I have an AWD Chevy Express that the previous owner changed the oil on every 2k because he idled it so much. It is a work van. It has 270K on it and still runs great. Seems like a lot of miles for an American van with lots of miles. I might have to buy another.
Yes, an oil test would be best, but most aren't going to send in a sample. I mean, I'm not. You could get a baseline, but the reality is , all that can change just by where you fill up w/ petrol and the additives they use. I'd rather just change the oil at a proper interval.
My brother has 1/2 mil on his 302 now and that motor still runs super strong. Most of its life on conventional oil
Is that eBay part OEM or aftermarket?
There's at least one aftermarket manufacturer making decent, OEM-looking LED taillights for the 15-21 trucks at a substantially better price than that, and I think they're BLIS compatible. They are made in China, so I'm not sure what the tariff impact is.
The number of F-150s out there is definitely a plus in that regard, both for access to salvage parts and for creating aftermarket demand.
" My brother has 1/2 mil on his 302 now and that motor still runs super strong. Most of its life on conventional oil " If you mean the ford 302 Apparently its ^^ the best Ford truck motor from what I have heard here and there but you donot see them specd in many F-150

Oh boy... My vote is for the 300 BUT![]()
2018, 3.5 Ecoboost 85,600mi. Owner, 6000, 9000 OC intervals. City/family trip truck. If I buy and keep OC under 5000, engine probably fine, turbos ticking time bomb or not. High end of fair price but the manifolds have just been replaced. Guessing a bunch of the miles was racing back and forth from from SLC to St.george. How concerning is the 6-9000 OC and the 3.5 EB?
My kid has the 3.5 eco-boost ^^ ford replaced the long block on warranty due to porosity which they scoped by putting dye in the oil
The 300 was awesume, they had a forged crank and would take incredible abuse , my buddies dad in HS had one so buddy used to abuse it incredibly hard like doing brake stands & pulling the front wheels off the pavement which was actualy was possible in a ford 3/4 ton if you bounced the front end,
I used one for forestry research I would put it in 3rd and just lope along on the FSR's but i don't think Ford have sold a 300 anytime in this century

I have the same year and engine with the HDPP. From my research that seems like a lot of miles between OC. Rec seems to be 5k. Also do you know if the cam phasers have been replaced? That year came with the bad ones. I had mine done under warranty thankfully. 10 speed transmission in that era can also have problems. Also issues with leaky coolant fittings that I haven’t experienced yet. The 2.7 is much more reliable motor but isn’t an option in the HDPP. 3.5 is crazy powerful though and other than the cam phasers the truck has been pretty sweet and reliable.
I've got a 2017 3.5. Currently approaching 80k miles, so not really enough to draw conclusions, but I'm willing to put more faith in Ford than the conventional wisdom of the Internet. The computer will adjust the interval recommended as driving habits change; when my habits changed from fewer drives but the shorter ones being around 7 miles and fairly frequent 20+ mile drives to driving just about daily but often only 3 miles at a time, the recommended oil change interval got cut almost in half (there also seems to be an impact from remote starting and letting it idle). So it's not a straight 10k recommendation.
Edit to add: and I forgot to say, the sheer number of F-150s out there does make it fairly likely that low-probability issues are going to still affect a lot of people, and those people are far more likely than those who don't have issues to talk about it online.
I had a 18’ 3.5l ecoboost that had the cam phasers replaced TWICE at 33k and 83k both on Fords dime, 5/6k miles per oil change. Sold it w/108k miles as I didn’t want to deal with it anymore. Seems like a roll of the dice with that year/engine.

Looking for a [emoji637]/[emoji638] ton or maybe [emoji639]/[emoji640] ton pickup. Original plan was a [emoji638][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]][emoji637][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]-[emoji638][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]] Tundra. But I’m wondering if the Toyota tax is worth it?
I’ll use it infrequently for towing, some misc driving and some moderate off-roading (OHV and Forrest roads.) Probably put [emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji639]],[emoji6[emoji640][emoji637]][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]] miles a year on it.
Is there another truck close enough in reliability and capability I should also look at?

I just want a 1/2 ton truck with a 6.5. Bed. Not a crewmax, v8, and leather and nice shit. Is that too much to ask. Who's holding. I am a buyer.
2021 TRD pro , double cab. It's the whole grail. I don't know how many where made? but if I see one I'll buy it off of you tomorrow.
