Skiing Skis w/ More Centered Mounting Position

    Hi There,

I recently got a pair of Moment Blister Pros (Or Older Version of the Bibby's). I mounted them at the recommended line and noticed they're much closer to the center than other skis I've used.

So far, I've skied them a few days and I've liked them - but I feel like I'm still not getting onto the hype train that comes with them leading me to believe I'm probably skiing them wrong. Normally I try to drive the shovels but they don't seem to like to do that. Is there something else I'm missing?

Oh and in case we needed, I'm 6'2", 180 lbs and have the 190cm Blister's
    Thanks!

Note that I only joined the rockered party in 2014. I kept trying to break my old skis but they wouldn't cooperate Some random thoughts that come up ...

I'd consider any ski from the perspective of how you want them to fit in your quiver, if they're performing that job, and how comfortable you are on them. My sense is that you're not leaving anything on the table, but perhaps some mounting changes might suit your goals for these skis better ... or not.

Of course, you'll have accidental discoveries along the way, such as when I discovered (due to burning thighs), that I could turn my carbon Megawatts (2013-2014 edition) while weighting my heels - not that I make a habit of this. I'm guessing you've read Skeezeball's current thread (http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...o-stiff-for-me)?

I went OCD with my new GPOs - reading all 39 pages of the GPO thread TWICE! (http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...Octopus-Thread) and obsessed about the +0 vs. -1 mount point.

I finally said the hell with it and mounted them at -1, figuring that I'd see if I could turn them quickly enough in hard pack and tight trees (I could) and that this would buy a bit of "tip dive insurance" for soft snow in the process. These are currently my widest lift oriented ski, so I weighted the tip dive comments in the GPO thread a bit more than others might.

As far as considering mounting point, I believe it's in the Praxis GPO thread where Marshall (DPS) corrects some misconceptions about how to consider the mount point position. He encourages people to view the ski from the perspective of its sidecut. My sense is that he got frustrated and that his comments sailed right past a large percentage of the audience (based on follow-up comments).

And further down the rabbit hole we go ...

    Cheers,
    Thom
