What are the options out there for narrow NTN boots? I stumbled across a cheap pair of Rotte Freedoms so I'm looking to get NTN boots eventually, but it seems like the options are all wide. I'm in old T1s and 98mm Hawx XTDs for other boots, so I need something narrow.

Even though Scarpa is wide in the toe box, I feel their ankle is narrow. With that being said, I believe crispi has the lowest volume with Scott having the largest.

Thanks, will look into crispi. Maybe the shiver?

I tried a pair of scott/garmonts on today that fit like buckets, so definitely will be avoiding those.

Its strange that there isn't a good equivalent to the T2 in the NTN world

Crispi Shiver is closest NTN boot to Scarpa T2

Crispi is very slightly narrower in the end of the toe box, but is overall a much higher volume boot with a taller instep, and cavernous heel pocket. I have hobbit feet and can't make scarpas work but Crispis fit me well. Never had my foot in a scott but I think the NTN boots are wider than the 75mm, same as scarpa. Your answer is that there are no "narrow" NTN boots on the market. Get the scarpas because they are a much higher quality boot than crispi, and make up for it with a thick liner. They used to do this shit in leather shoes so I think having a few extra mm side to side will not make or break your skiing performance.

Yes it is. The first (two?) iterations of the TX were an NTN T2. Too much overlap with the current TX Pro and Comp IMO.

Everyone with some common sense knows that they should have axed the tx pro and kept the three buckle TX and the Comp. The problem is from a dealer perspective, the TX pro was by far the best selling boot. The average tele skier (we were never accused of being smart) saw a three boot lineup and obviously the middle boot should be the compromise "best of both" scenario. What they really got was a boot with the same ROM as a comp, but with the soft bellows of the TX and the stiff cuff of a Pro. It is the worst tele boot from scarpa ever imo. Bad at everything. Why make a soft 4 buckle boot that doesn't tour any better than the comp?? You can ski 99% as hard on a TX as you can on a TX pro, and enjoy a lighter boot with a lower cuff and very slightly better walk mode. They also need to put tech toes into the comp. It has been done, I have seen multiple pairs of prototype comps with tech toes but for some reason they won't bring it to market. Probably because it will cut into the sales of their "best selling tele boot" that is only a best seller because the options are so limited.

This is Mikael Garcin, I met him in 2018 at the Grand Targhee tele comp. He is a Meidjo Athlete and at the time was sponsored by Scarpa, now he rides Crispi because Scarpa won't make any more tech toe comps but there are a few images around the web like this one where you can see him wearing comps with Meidjos. Also check out this shaky video from the comp https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8RrQOzkL_s you can hear the camera guy talking about how he ride Meidjos and after he overrotates that backflip you can clearly see he is riding TX comps. The fact that scarpa never made these boots is super frustrating. They should make a "freeride" comp with a booster strap and power block (walk mode delete) and a "freetour" comp with tech toes, walk mode, and lighter strap. Then bring back the TX and they have a much better boot lineup than the current one and will have spent zero dollars in R&D and new molds. They have the technology already.

Amen to that. The Outlaw X is the binding of my dreams. The drum is beating louder for the non-tour version (love you Inlaws name BTW), I didn't think there was a way to improve this masterpiece but my oldest pair did start going into tour mode accidentally too much for my liking (after 100s of days).

I agree with your take on the Lynx (not quoted, on previous page). I so wanted to love it, but I could never dial it in to ski the way I wanted. I'm jealous of my friends who feel it is just a lighted Outlaw.

So you think that scarpa is the lowest volume fit even though the last is 102mm? I have the intuition wraps out of my T1s that fit really well that I could potentially swap in.

Its hard to find 25.5 boots, seems like everything is either 23 or 28

Hmmm, I like the TX Pro; best tele boot I have ever had. Shrug. I do agree that the comp should have a tech toe, that it doesn't is plain stupid.

I also have been happy with my non-Outlaw bindings (very old Freeride and less old Freedom). And after 2 days on the Outlaw, I'm definitely not ready to declare them better. Plus there are plenty of people who prefer the Meidjo to the Outlaw.

Thanks. I can't afford to spend 500+ on something new, so I'll keep an eye on forums and Craigslist.

There is a pair of blue/orange TX pro locally for 350, but they are 24.5 and I'm usually a 25.5 unfortunately

Can you try on a Scarpa TX anywhere near you? They run big.

FWIW, I wear a 12.5 street shoe and I am in a 28.5 Scarpa TX Comp with a shell fit of 1.25 fingers/ running luxury liners + ankle donuts.

Going off chart, I should be in a 29.5/30

I think if you skied a three buckle TX you would wonder what the performance benefit of that fourth buckle really is besides added weight. I skied pros for three years as my primary BC boot and they ski alright, although I find the bellows soft when compared to the cuff, which the TX fixes, it is just a more balanced boot.

The Meidjo certainly has a sweet skiing sensation, it is absolutely my preferred backcountry binding.

Funny you say that. I went and tried on the 24.5, and they fit great. The fit is somehow less race-boot feeling than my 25.5 Hawx boots even though they are a full size smaller.

For the blue/orange TX pro guys: is there some sort of mod you have done to make the instep cable buckle easier to use? It seems to take quite a bit of wiggling to even get the cable hooked onto the ladder

For all the tele-wisemen: Do the Scarpa TX Pro and TX Comp have the same fit? I can only find the TX Pro to try on in-store, but think I might want the stiffness of the TX Comp (6'4", 185lbs).

    Any thoughts?

I don't have TX Comps, but I do have TX and TXPros (and they fit exactly the same), and my understanding is that all of Scarpa's NTN boots fit the same.

Scarpa shells break on the half size, so the 24.5 is the same shell as the 25; that may explain part of why they fit well, since it is only a half size smaller in effect.

I was very pleasantly surprised by how well they fit. New setup is going to be TX pro, Rotte Freedom, and some very PINK Majesty skis. Its going to be quite colorful,, but I'm excited

While they fit the same, they do NOT feel the same as far as skiing action goes. I prefer the tx comp flex to the softer pro where I tend to get some weird bellows flex on big skis. I’m about 175 and ski Outlaw X.

Broke my mid-step cable yesterday, at Alta, at 10am. What a pain in the ass. These things seem to last 50 days or less. If you ski either of these boots I highly recommend stocking a replacement strap plus hardware for when you need to replace. The actual replacement is not quite what I’d call simple either.

Yeah, that instep strap design is shit. The latest boots have gone back to the strap with teeth instead of the wires.

Also, I think the Pros and Comps could nix two buckles on the cuff and just have one like the Maestrale.

I did that replacement on some old TRace. It sucked. I had to drill out a rivet which was no easy task.
