I've been watching the same thing. At the very least, some water in the south will be a great thing.

A base down there would be awesome. I've not seen one in five years.

    Just drove 395 yesterday
More snow then I thought in the northern Sierra with some stuff looking skiable by early season standards. Very distinct snowline at about 9-10k so zones with high road access look to be in play since there is zero snow below that. Va lakes, Emma area, bloody, etc.
Hardly any snow south of bloody

These observations were just made from the road so I have no idea if it's good from afar or far from good

I never grow tired of the views of the roadside attractions from bishop. Pict from last week.

Did TPR ever try and/or finally throw in the towel on reopening? iirc, something about water issues?

    From July correspondence:
"It's mostly about water treatment system requirements/regulations. It's not impossible that winter operations may return one day...but no plans for now."

Coverage on Sonora is good enough. All of the chutes looked like they would go though I didnt get much of a look at dead mans etc. Snow is highly variable. Low sun angle is allowing winter snow to hang around. Chalk and cold snow is there but so is varying degrees of crust. Coverage not good enough at the bottom of the canyon to run the shuttle (which after today i think is way better than crossing the ridge twice) Good to decent turns on No Name and in the Y. Definitely worth getting out.

A little late to post this I suppose, but here's some footage from Nov. 1st http://snowbrains.com/mammoth-ca-bac...wpack-up-high/

We haven't really gotten any significant snow since... last week I found firm windboard forming in Chute Out on Tioga Pass.

If anyone is looking for a partner this weekend let me know. I'm new to the area and will be driving to Mammoth from OC on Friday after work. I plan on skiing at Mammoth Saturday, but would be interested to go out on a short tour Sunday to scout things out and get familiar.

Tioga Pass was open as of yesterday. We crossed it on Sunday, and everything near the pass like Ellery looked thin to non existent. False White looked reasonable.

Storm was due to roll in today, so it may close for the season.

There were a few guys skiing Bloody today, it honestly didn't look too bad. I'll be in Mammoth this weekend but I'm not expecting much.

I made a post in the Hook Up forum, but figured I'd mention it here as well. I've organized a ski lease from 12/1-5/31 for this season and we're looking for one or two more midweek-only members. It's a pretty nice place and you'd probably always have your own private bedroom with full bath, plus it's only $1400 for the season.

See http://www.nomadnessrentals.com/prop...untain-retreat for pictures and send me a PM if you're interested.

That was me and a couple buddies. The pics and vids kinda made it look better than it was... mostly firm windboard, but it was super fun!
