Garmont Axon and dynafit Beast 14

Long story short, my shop just told me that they cannot install the beast 14 heal piece onto my garmont axon's. I have not been to the shop yet, however they say that where the beast's heal piece attaches they would be drilling into the shell of the boot for some reason, so it will not work. What boots would you guys say fit best like a garmont that will work with the Dynafit beasts? I have tried on Scarpa Freedoms, Dynafits, etc but they are all crushingly painful. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, the Beast heel insert adds two screws into the boot shell.

Go dick slap the shop and mount your own fucking bindings.

Yeah I understand how they mount. I guess I am jumping the gun by coming on here and asking. It doesnt make sense in my head why they would not fit onto the boot. Even though they are a 2009 model boot they are still dynafit compatible

It sounds like the shop does not understand how they mount, though.

    Angry

I just picked them up from the shop, actually looks like they were right, when you pop the beast heel piece in the boot, there is no material for it to screw into.. sucks!!

I see a gap at the top between the heelpiece and the boot so it looks like the heelpiece is not properly seated ... which might make it sit like that??

Tech heel fittings have a peg and are held on the boot with a screw, it looks like the peg is not completely seated into the hole which is leaving a gap at the top of the fitting which may be why the wings with the screw holes sit too high

so I would take a look at why the fitting isn't properly seated into the boot shell maybe the peg on the dynafit fitting is longer??

its possible that fully seating the fitting will bring the wings down to allow the holes to be drilled and the other screws mounted

Hard to say from the photo, but it appears as if the heel shelf is a bit taller than expected, and therefore inducing the tilt. XXX-er might be right however about the peg length.

One thing is clear: an inspection by someone with a clue about things mechanical is in order. I can envision many boot fitters not wanting to "fix" this, due to liability issues, but the problem is easily solvable.

Dickslap the shop if you want.

Boot fitter is a required stop. Probably for new boots rather than tweaking your current boots. Good luck.

A better question is why are you still trying to ski in Axiums and Why do they still look brand new?

Gear swap post sez they ARE brand new, only worn around the house, the OP might as well start at the beginning looking for THE boot, so didn't the Axon fit a wide forefoot(which I have) like the endorphin (which I had) the liner sucked a little

doesn't matter but I'm still curious about that fitting

I think the Scott Cosmos will fit most like the Axon. I don't know if it will solve your heal piece problems.

That's a good thing. You can make a boot bigger but not smaller.

    Go see a boot fitter.
