Anyone here real familiar with the Park City resort? The wife and I are thinking about doing a tour from BCC into Park City with the intent of staying there for a night and either taking the bus back (likely) or possibly hiking back out to BCC/Brighton (seems impossible / overly difficult?)
We're looking for a place to enter the resort where we can ski all the way down into town WITHOUT buying a PCMR lift ticket. 9990 gate and hang skier's left to canyons base then take a bus into Park City proper? If I want to go further down the ridge, above the Daybreak/Dreamcatcher lifts, is it possible to reach the town without taking another lift back up and out? Or for further down the ridge am I stuck going all the way to the Jupiter area?
Also any beta on entering the resort through the upper gates - they ever close em? Is patrol likely to be perturbed?
Also, is it even remotely possible to hike back out from the Park City side to BCC without a resort pass? I know we could ride up 9990 and drop back into Beartrap, but I'd rather not shell out ~$250 for a couple Vail lift rides...
Edit: http://www.parkcitymountain.com/moun...#/UphillTravel <- any BC access from the "angle station" wherever that is? Like exit the resort and carry on up toward guardsman?

^ heh, fair enough. Tentative plan is to go up Mill D -> Beartrap -> Willow -> (something) -> Park City, so maybe we just walk the ridge over to Guardsman and drop it there. Can you ski into the town from guardsman? I've only skied the BCC side and never even driven it to be honest, but it looks like it runs into the back of PCMR / DV...?
I would go up Guardsman and drop into Jupiter and ski the resort into PC. People that do the interconnect tour drop into PC ski area, so I don't think the patrol cares. Take the Pioneer Ridge road to Home Run traverse into PC without needing to take a lift.
Is there a free bus up to Montage at Deer Valley? It runs during the summer, probably during the winter too. Then skin up to Guardsman from there, not sure on what route though.
I think we get a couple free days at DV with our Alta passes, so if there is an exit gate there maybe we can head back over the Brighton side... I dunno. Still got 2+ weeks to plan it, might have to go do some recon in the Brighton periphery...
i'd just wait for skilink
pm it's no joker for the completion date on that one

Road to Provo remained shut all day. Mineral, tiger tail, and the baldy traverse all opened eventually. It all got skied pretty hard today but even with the traffic still soft turns to be had around 3pm. You'd have to work for it if they don't open RTP and manage your expectations but after seven days you deserve a day on the hill.
^^^^This.
Or you can walk the ridge up to the top of Jupiter Peak. Drop into the NE bowl (skier's left of McConkey lift) and you can basically ski right to PCMR base without having to jump on another lift.
Thanks for the info. Unfortunately my sump pump took a shit and I'm looking at six inches of water in my basement...its a rental so I don't really care but I think its gonna cause me to miss skiing tomorrow to deal with my landlord's idiot "handy"man. Ugh I need another beer.
Be sure to catch the Winter Wildlands Film Festival next Thursday night (Feb 4) at Brewvies. It's a fundraiser for the Wasatch Backcountry Alliance, which is committed to preserving the balance between resort and backcountry terrain. It sold out last year, so get your ticks early! https://www.facebook.com/events/439695382888629/
The untracked lines and cold smoke have been so good, my bong and rolled up Benjamin won't even talk to me anymore. Paging Joe Walsh to the white courtesy phone please.
Another skier down. An avy in Holy Toledo, partial burial with injuries.
Another guided excursion.

Similar location but bigger than the slide back on 1/9. That area was predominantly bed surface and soft deposition before the last 2 weeks of storms.
Lot's of tracks.
Hope he is okay.
