Nice Ted and hey boomer!
My dad wishes he would have tried to pull some strings and special order the 412 with the manual since he bought it new as a factory order. Back then those kinds of things were within the realm of possibility, maybe. Thing was a beast hill climber/snow machine with all that weight in the back and snows.

Yeah, mine was good in snow too. Heat and defrost were another matter. The combustion heater didn't work when I bought it, and the exhaust heat exchangers were rusted through.
It was a good first car because it taught me how to troubleshoot and twist wrenches.
But I'm not a boomer, just an old genxer

No offense taken. I knew from your Jackson in dad's vw thread that we were basically the same age. My dad had the van.

It’ll need the chain and guides done, thus the low(ish) price.

Hahahaha! Perfect. "The Wagon."
Reminds me of a little office prank we did to a coworker years ago. Guy had Chevy emblems all over his truck. Stickers, mud flaps, the works Ya know. Just in case you didn't realize it was a Chevy or something? Guy was kind of a dolt (but very arrogant), so we used to say he had to do that so he'd remember what kind of vehicle he had. So anyway, we ended up staying late after work one night and put Post-It notes all over his office labeling EVERYTHING. "The monitor,' "The keyboard," "The Whiteboard," "The Pencil," "The Supply Closet," "The Coffee Mug," so on and so forth. Hundreds of Post-Its. Guy was predictably pissed the next morning. Worth it.

He traded in his main hobby for a wedding. I’d love to see a follow up in about two years to see how it all worked out.

Not a wagon but I had a buddy sell an absolutely pristine jeep scrambler to help pay for his wedding. He still talks about selling that thing however he is still with the wife
