Maybe carry a can of the tire repair stuff and an air pump to?

    Wagon Stoke

A6 wagon has a donut tucked away under the cargo area, along with a jack and a handful of tools, etc.

Same re: how worried you should really be. It would suck to be stuck on the side of a road somewhere. It would suck a lot more if you didn’t have a cell phone.

But… what are you gonna check when you need to take a cross-country journey to settle some internet beef in a ski-off?

Yep, that's in there but the Fix-A-Flat ruins wheels and TPMS sensors. It would have to be a dire emergency and I would have to be stalked by wolves and not strapped to go that route.

Cell phone coverage in these parts is about as sketchy as tow truck coverage.

Planning to head west next year to link up with the kooks at Jackson so, yeah, I need to have a plan B.

My wife's BMW is on run flats and I said if it was my car I would have normal tires and throw a full size spare in the back when doing longer trips. She declined. Maybe you should consider that option.

    Wagon Stoke

For the seven or so years I had an E91, I kept a donut spare in the back and the scissor jack, etc. hidden in that small space under the trunk cover.

^ I think that's going to be the plan. Scored an M-B branded cargo net (MSRP $77) for $10.99 on eBay. Already have everything else in the car.

Anyone bought/built a platform for the cargo area? I want to store skis diagonally and put baggage on top.

Someone here did that with their LC and it was awesome. Even had a homemade wood stove and chimney set up. I wouldn't even know where to look.

Yeah, this no spare in new cars is bullshit. Alfa wants $1200 for a donut, the tie down and the foam insert. I bought just a spare wheel on eBay and a jack and just carry that in the back on longer trips.
There are sections of PA on I80 that I don't think you could make it to the next exit on a runflat. Can't imagine being out west where distances are even longer without a spare.

Seriously. If Volvo somehow found room to fit the spare in my little C30, then no modern wagon has any excuse. My E350 has one, even with the stowable rear bench seat, but the new E450 doesn't? Not cool.

Audi's use of the hideaway spare was infuriating on the side of a busy I-20 in the pre-dawn hour a couple summers ago, even moreso when I realized I didn't know where the spare tire electric air pump was. Learned a few lessons that early morning.

I always thought those exhaust tips were overcompensating for something.

I have no tips and feel rather neutered. You talk shit about tips until you have none….

It’s gotten a little trendy maybe jumped the shark level but personally would choose it for an easy color to maintain, while not being silver or white. In 15 yrs from now I’d expect the color to be sought after on choice vehicles because it makes a statement while hiding imperfections.
Porsche’s Graphite Blue is my aim for ‘17-18 GTS buy. Nardo-ish

How do your better halves feel about wagons? Both my wife and my sister think that wagons are about as cool as minivans. Actually, let me rephrase that. They think that wagons aren't cool at all, I just don't get it.
