Does the car I want exist?

I'm searching for a new (to me car) this is what I want:

-AWD/4wd and a wee bit of ground clearance (good in snow)
-at least 68" wide inside (so I can put a bed in the back and sleep crosswise)
-preferably a mini van (so I can put a bed in the back and still have a 3 seats)
    -25 mpg or so
-Not shittily made like most american cars in the last 20 years (holy fuck no wonder they all went bankrupt)

I think I'm basically looking for an astro van but with much better gas mileage and say a toyota.

    Does this car exist?

So you've researched the offerings from the various manufacturers and haven't found an answer?

I recently bought a new generation Transit Connect. It gets right around your desired gas mileage, but doesn't come with all wheel drive and isn't close to 64in wide (It's about 48in at the widest, 45in at the narrowest). I think it's the best minivan gas mileage wise, so I suspect that your unicar does no exist.

My uncle also has a Transit Connect and does what you're talking about with it - he travels around with his dog, has a bed in the back and sleeps in it when he needs to.

I don't think you're going to find anything with AWD that meets your size criteria that gets that good of mileage. AWD means a lot of extra weight and parasitic drivetrain losses = crappy gas mileage.

While I've enjoyed the hell out of my AWD car, I've never found AWD to be required.

I would much prefer 4 wd for the MPG savings, I do however go a lot of places where AWD or 4WD is an absolute must (beaches, icy boat ramps, snow storms, ATV trails...).

Sienna and Odysey both look good, just slightly less efficient than I'd like. I am guessing the car I want doesn't exist...

wish vw made the eurovan in awd in the states. believe you can get them in the euro zone awd...
My eurovan is the 2wd but just put burly winter tires on it and it's all good and would fit your bill. The little things like the fold up table make it a dope camper + normal vehicle and it's good on gas
*wish we had a touch more clearance though

Ram 1500 diesel. 28mpg. Put a canopy on it and build a bed/storage system. This way your passengers won't have to smell your dirty laundry. Why the fuck do you want a van when your needs say truck?

Go with the fwd promaster with snows. But you probably can't afford it.

Because trucks that I can afford generally get really really shitty gas milage, also have less head space in the back. But I think one of those smaller older tacomas may fit the bill.

These two replies have the info you want.

Get a better job. Tacomas, except the 2wd variety get shitty gas mileage and are small.

I've had a Eurovan and wish my ex didn't get it in the divorce, that thing was great in snow and super roomy. Next summer I will most likely get a crew cab Ram 1500 eco-diesel for exactly what you're talking about. If you're savvy you can probably get a Tradesman version for less than 40k, even new.

Have you considered a Eurospec Audi RS6Avant Turbodiesel 6-speed with a box? It's really the only acceptable vehicle out there. Anything else is just trailer trash.

Dodge Magnum? Yeah, it's 'Murican, but it's not a minivan. AWD, V6, and they're 74" wide. Plus I think you could get an AWD model with the Hemi ifyou wanted.

Honda Element. Take out the back seats and build a platform. If you need 3 or 4 seats, put 'em back in.

Granted, the Element isn't 68" wide, but really how many cars ARE that wide inside?

What ever you get, take it fishing and post up some AK fish pics! Been missing the AKPM stoke!

Get a decent van. That's what you want. Don't be hellbent on the mpg. Those numbers are bullshit most of the time anyway. If filling the tank or the earth got you worried, drive less, (but still go take sweet pics of big AK fish).
