Thumbs down Camelbak - Skimpy on the waist strap length...wtf!

Picked up a new Lobo for biking and planned on it for Fatbiking in the cooler weather as it has plenty of space for a layer or two. So I put the thing on two days ago and the waist strap barely fits around my waist! I guess I'm fat at 6' 175lb? Add a layer and I won't be able to snap the closure.
The waist strap is removable via velcro, so there is some adjustability, but it would compromise the longevity and durability if you don't use the entire length of the velcro when tying it to the pack.

I think I'm going to return it for the Osprey.

Anybody in here Rep that line?

    Do you like like this?

if not, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a manufacturing flaw. Too many fat people in this country to make money selling short waist belts.

Camelbak - Skimpy on the waist strap length...wtf!

Sounds like a defect... I have a Camelback "cloud walker" that I could probably cut a foot off of the waist strap and still have plenty of room for adjustment.

With that said, osprey is far superior in every way imaginable.

    Edit- that picture is gross.

ISBD wtf!! ha! what in gods name had that pic on it's site. Actually, yeah I don't want to know.

yeah, both my friends I ride with have extra long (really too long) straps and one has the Lobo from a few yrs back. I had a real minimalist light weight bag from TNF and the bladder finally blew out. Anyway, that Osprey is pretty bitchin'.

email camel back. I bet they just ship you a longer strap, or an addition.

Heh. Searched for "skinny fat man." That was by far the worst pic.

Thanks. This is the reply I just received. I am a 34" waist...so yeah it fits, but just barely. If you're bigger than 34 it does not fit? Honestly, Camelbak has their heads up their asses on this one.

Thank you for contacting CamelBak. The warranty department at CamelBak prides itself on providing superior customer experience. The Got Your Bak™ Lifetime Guarantee is dedicated to servicing our customers who have repair-related issues. Unfortunately, we do not handle exchanges or refunds.
The waist belt provided should fit sizes of 32 up to 34 to standard application. Modifying the belt or making a second (longer webbing) belt for your winter application needs should not be hard. The webbing used is a standard .75 (3/4 inch) as well as the buckles. These can then be connected back to the D-Rings with a strap adjuster.

Max waist size of 34" seems ridiculous.

My Deuter pack waist strap probably goes to 50" -- there's a lot of extra strap doubled up on both sides of the buckle.

I ran over to EMS with mine and then grabbed a new one off the shelf. Check it out...both sides were that short. Swapped out the straps and I'm good to go. I replied to their email with this pic.

^I didn't know that, so I just looked it up.

    2011
WESTPORT, CT (BRAIN)—Compass Diversified Holdings acquired a controlling interest in CamelBak Products in a $257.5 million deal announced late Wednesday.

Compass, which also owns Fox Racing Shox, purchased an 89.9 percent stake in the Petaluma, California-based CamelBak. CamelBak’s management management team and a lender in Compass’ revolving credit facility also invested in the acquisition.
    2015
Compass Diversified Holdings has sold its CamelBak brand to Vista Outdoor for $412.5 million, officials announced early Monday.
Private equity companies know how to make money, eh?
