    Repent Or Face Judgment

    Sigh.... these are my neighbors.......

Letter to the editor of the Union Bulletin:

Letter - Repent or face judgment

    This is a warning.

President Obama and now five members of the Supreme Court have set themselves above God by declaring same-gender marriage as a civil right. Fortunately, one of the branches of government, Congress, has not done so — at least not yet.

In the beginning of man, God ordained that marriage was a sacred covenant between a man and a woman. Jesus confirmed that.

I believe the United States of America is going to face a devastating judgment. Some say it will be a catastrophic stock market crash on September 30, 2015. I believe it will be an electromagnetic pulse attack from Iran.

Now, I am not a prophet and make no claims of hearing a voice from God. I am only going on what the Bible states about nations who have been blessed by God and have turned against Him. I have also seen what has happened to other nations blessed by God only to turn against Him.

Experts on electromagnetic pulse have stated that an attack on the U.S. would cause about one third of the population to perish. This would not be from the attack itself but from the after effects of the loss of power, communication and services. There is also the possibility that the Islamic terrorists in the large urban areas would begin to attack anyone that is not a Muslim of their ilk.

Maybe, as in the days of Nineveh, if the leaders and citizens of the U.S. repent, the judgment will be averted.

Vic is not literally my neighbor but I have several within close range that would agree with his sentiments.

Our paper has a policy of printing all letters written to the editor. The majority of them read like the one above. Honestly, people around here write the craziest stuff and you can tell by their letters that they believe what they are saying with all their being with much fear and loathing, oh, and don't spare the scripture:

Letter - Salmon will continue to survive

Wow! No salmon, fewer salmon, breach the dams, destroy crops, orchards. Some nuts just cannot get out of a rut. So let’s look at things from the beginning.

Genesis 1:20 “God created great whales and every living creature that moves which the waters brought forth.”

Genesis 1:22 “God said ‘be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters of the seas.’”

Do you suppose salmon were among the fish God created? They had to come from somewhere. So if salmon have survived since the beginning of time, why won’t they continue to survive?

God created man and woman and despite our stupidity, we are still here. So if man can survive, so shall the salmon — despite the dams.

    See you in church.

Just remember. Trump is leading, or at least tied for first in the Republican polls.

I always knew that fucker was the anti christ.

Rather boring until I got to this part:

That part raised it above the level of your average religious nut case.

Are you thinking of maybe having them over for a BBQ?

We're getting a store and it's going to be right on main street! LOL! Of all the cities in this corner of EWA we are the only one stepping up and listening to the will of the people (that is the main driving force - they don't like it but they believe in the majority vote).

I swear when I read that about the "electromagnetic pulse" (had to read it twice to believe he actually wrote that) this is what came to mind:

LOL @ BBQ. Think I'll let the electromagnetic pulse take care of that for me.

We have several regulars who argue back and forth for weeks at a time. I'm not surprised you have the same thing over there. Our towns are almost identical in size and demographic though I suspect you may have more liberals than we do.

Sadly, this is all too common in the intermountain west. The Lettters are, even more unfortunately, now the most interesting part of our local paper. God knows the reporting isn't worth a shit any more. I guess it still has some good outdoors writers, but the best of those have moved on, as well. In the LOE section I get to learn things like the above (electromagnetic pulse, that's new); that the jihadists have apparently focused on Idaho; that the chinese are trying to set up an outpost of sovereign turf out in the desert south of town; that god intended all sorts of things that I never would have thought of; and that the local highway department is essentialy the spawn of satan. Fun times.

Salmon are old and thus cannot become extinct. Extinction is impossible for any species which had been around awhile. Just ask the dodo bird.

Seems someone else saw it your way too:

Letter - Bible urges us to be good stewards

The gist of a recent letter from Rex Miller was that God created salmon, so why wouldn’t they survive the acts of man?

Perhaps we ought to ask that question of the passenger pigeon, the Carolina parakeet, the Javan tiger, the West African black rhinoceros, the great auk or the Caribbean monk seal. Oh, we can’t — they are all extinct.

How could that happen? Think it through.

Hint — I think the Bible also urges us to be good stewards. Are we living up to that guidance?

    Ed Chesnut

    Milton-Freewater
To which Rex replied (see - back and forth, all printed for our entertainment!):

In reply to a gentleman from Milton-Freewater.

I’m ashamed of myself. I forgot about all of those other critters. Even the order of Dinosauria (order of huge reptiles). They became extinct in the Mesozoic period. Probably from over hunting.

Man was given the Earth and all things on, above, under and in the seas. However, after the fall of man the Earth was cursed. You can blame Adam for all those weeds in your yard.

As for being good stewards — when it comes to that mankind of all races has failed, because of greed, envy, lust, pride and plain stupidity. We have even ruined God’s rainbow by it’s association to a lifestyle.

However the salmon shall survive. Long live the salmon. I almost forgot the monarch butterfly is on the way to extinction also.

Oh, by the way, do you fish?

I think Rex may be playing with Milton a bit there. That's pretty much gold.

Yep, I remember when you could get your annual limit of T. Rex in under a month ……
Sigh, those were the days; but you sniveling, snot-nosed punks would have just stood there and shit your pants as ol' Tiny Toes came rumbling down on you.

Right??? In fucking credible how strongly the stupidz is with some people. O well, Leroy said it best below.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

As best as I can tell the only countries that have not turned against God are Iran and ISIS, if we want to call ISIS a country. All the rest of the countries are at least in part secular and violate God's law. What does Rex think about that? BTW, does Rex keep kosher, as the Bible commands? If not he is violating God's law and will burn in hell for eternity with all the other Christians.

What I don't understand is this: why would an omniscient, omnipotent God punish a political entity as a whole when he would clearly know who is good and who is bad and have the power to take care of the good people and punish the bad ones...right?

I mean, wtf. He's the all powerful, all knowing God who is beholden to our stupid national politics? durrr

Good point but it's probably wasted on this group. According to KQ that paper prints all the letters they get...just sayin'. I'd write one if I wasn't pretty lazy.

KQ, maybe you should run with that BBQ thing, and invite Tipp and IAS, Bobby too. Hell, all of us. It'd be some good times.

I would definitely write a letter to that paper if I wasn't so lazy. Definitely.
