I remember your thread. As I said earlier we spent some time in WF a few years ago and really liked it, but I did find it a bit pretentious (I have no idea how Walgreens got in here!). I wouldn't mind living there though.
The organization that owns the hospital in Polson also owns one in Kalispell, WF and Missoula and I guess they all have openings in my wife's field but for some reason Polson is the only one offering the bonus.

Seriously. Even if there was no consideration other than skiing, it ain't worth the ten grand under any calculus. Combined with the fact that there is almost nothing in Polson other than a Walmart and a Safeway, and I'm not sure why this is a discussion.
Living on the lake would be sweet.
How bad could the commute be, it's frickin Montana!
Kalispell is not exactly commuting distance to Polson.
Kalispell does seem to have gotten a lot less weird tho. Something with the new brewery. Or maybe just that I know some people who now live there. Still a lot more rural and a lot less going on than Missoula. You're off the res there, tho. Not that the res is a bad place, it's kinda just vacation land. And only in the summer.
Plenty of acreage for sale between Lakeside and Polson, especially on the west side of the lake. A bit pricey but like you said, it'll be cheap compared to Denver.
Polson isn't exactly close to any skiing but it is a beautiful area. Lots of hiking and lake opportunities and you're "close" endless world class fly fishing. I have had a few employees commute from Polson to N Kalispell for work and definitely wouldn't recommend it. Lakeside/Bigfork and south though wouldn't be a bad commute... with the exception of the bad winter days.
I know of an ED doc who commutes from Lakeside to Polson, about 45 minutes.
I work for KRMC myself, are you referring to them? Given those living situations, I don't think an extra 10k up front would make living in Polson worth hit versus those other areas. All the others have significantly better mountain access and more vibrant down towns (in comparison to Polson) and communities (despite what stuck says).
In case anybody's still interested here's the latest...I mentioned in the last post the Polson gig was off the table but a day after that fell through wife got a call from Whitefish saying they were interested. The next day she finds out that the hospital in Durango has a position opening up. Durango was our first choice as this would be a transfer for her and I could keep my current job if I stayed in CO. So I guess we're moving to Durango next month! Super stoked, love it down there.
If any mags are looking for a house in the Denver area, mine's going up for sale, won't be any maggot discounts but if there are multiple offers you'll get preferential treatment.
Thanks for all the info...

Love these threads about bumfuck-small-town-out-west-middle-of-nowheresville. Love finding these places on a map trying to imagine them in winter. I'm jost on the south side of 7 years of paying for three college educations in the southeast...heat-indexed at 102 here today. FML.
