Just like my wife, she's used to air conditioning. While I want to turn it off and breathe normal air.
Swamp cooler if it's dry enough where you live. My wife grew up in Tucson with one--it's not as cold as AC but cheaper, more pleasant. I had one in Sacramento--not dry enough there for optimum efficiency but not bad. I think they still make them.
Yup, I have one on my roof here in SLC. I'd prefer central air on some of the hottest days, but boy do I love how cheap it is to run. As long as it cools off at night my house stays plenty comfortable.
