and whatever else it devolves into. I'm guessing posture, bootlicking, Lebron James' junk.

I want to hang one on a deck suspended from the deck above it. I'm leaning towards the non- spreader bar type. Extol the virtues of any type and where to find a good deal on a good hammock.

Weird thread. I saw hammock deal yesterday on kotaku. 25 for 2 person trendy nylon.

I think the bootlicking is unstoppable.

Mayan style for around civilization. Hung close and high up vs. stretched horizontal, resting across/diagonal to the fabric rather than along so you lay almost flat. A real wide one is even a good screen from biting bugs as the sun goes down.

For camping solo, a lighter version with integrated no-see-um netting and a siltarp for a fly. Off the ground with a very light 2/3 length mattress, could be swinging fine on 100% slopes (just have to remember when getting out...). Love my hammocks.

I'm assuming the Mayan style BC is referring to is similar to the style Ty linked? That's kinda what I'm thinking. A great deal of central and South America actually sleep in those things so I'm starting to think the spreader bars with wide nylon netting is an Americanized bastardization - capitalist pigs, am'i right DD?

Just picked up a Hatteras Hammock from LLBean. I think they only do spreader bar style though (easier for the well-fed Capitalist to use).

Great quality and made in the US which is nice.

I picked up my cloth hammock in SA some years ago and it has a fairly substantial weave (appears much thicker than those on the site Ty linked, bugs can't bite through it), but yes, same style. The fabric is approx 6ft across X 8ft long plus an additional 2.5' of anchor cord/weave at each end. It was not considered a large one in the shop I purchased it at.

Hank Scorpio: Hammocks? My goodness, what an idea. Why didn't I think of that? Hammocks! Homer, there's four places. There's the Hammock Hut, that's on third.

    Homer: Uh-huh.

Hank Scorpio: There's Hammocks-R-Us, that's on third too. You got Put-Your-Butt-There.

    Homer: Mm-Hmm.

Hank Scorpio: That's on third. Swing Low, Sweet Chariot... Matter of fact, they're all in the same complex; it's the hammock complex on third.

    Homer: Oh, the hammock district!

    Hank Scorpio: That's right.

Non spreader bar type is more comfortable imo. Harder to get in and out of for the old stiff people.
