Last night I looped through Rose Bud for the first time in ages. The last decent to the wooden bridge had a ton of cookies and at the top was a fence post with blank ply wood on it. Is it closed? I rode it, but don't want to be the guy continuing through their if they are trying to do something new.
I rode that on Friday, I cut across the golf course at the bottom of it because I wanted to end the ride by hitting the berms on lower Holly. There was no one around though, but I'd like to figure out a better way to Hollys next time without doing too much climbing and not cutting across the golf course.
I stopped at that blank sign, too, it was weird. Love doing Crest Connector all the way down to Rose bud!
LoL at amazing journalism by Dirt Rag:

The edited the article, but originally suggested to climb up Spiro. You think they would do a bit more investigating besides just browsing MTB Project for trails.
I commented on their facebook:

Anyone know how snowy the top of Pinecone is?
We rode down it last week. There were two relatively small piles and that was it. I'd consider it g2g.
Just climbed pinecone before this pic. It's in great conditions. Went down crest to mid mountain and back down spiro today. Kicked my ass.
FB acquaintance received a ticket or warning for not coming to a complete stop at the stop sign on Mill Creek Rd...
Construction on Deer Crest/Devo this weekend, 8 foot deep narrow trench intersecting the trail at the top that's hard to cross. Most likely there will be construction crew members yelling at you during the weekdays.
Anyone know when the sign and deadfall went in at the LCC DH entrance where you exit the cg and ride over the slab?
Right around the same time LCC was featured in that PinkBike video.
"If we can't bring the mountain to the party, let's bring the PARTY to the MOUNTAIN!"
What PB video?
Looks like it is now password protected, but here is a link DTM:

Keep it unclipped
Cracroft and some others made a video of LCC, it showed riding through a part of the creek, jumps, etc. The internet exploded with hate of blowing up the spot (granted, after what happened with the specialized debacle). Read the comments, people were PISSED.

Well Jon, I'd call you an asshole in person but you claim to not knowing it's an illegal trail. That is very puzzling though.
Jesus Christ. The sign and deadfall going in that quickly afterwards can't be a coincidence. It was what, 6 or 7 years ago now that they shut down the upper section? The lower section had gone so long without being messed with by the FS that I thought maybe they were actually going to leave it alone long-term. For now the deadfall only goes about 30 feet and you can still get in by the culvert so enjoy it while you can. I suppose there's a possibility they just want to keep bikers out of the campground, but I don't have a good feeling about this.
Also, if anyone knows the guy building jumps on the Quarry tell him to knock that shit off. I am perpetually worried about the Quarry getting closed to bikes and no good can come from unauthorized building on FS trails.

There's an alternate and more spicy entrance just down the road from the campground. It's been there for a while.
Have you checked on that entrance recently? I'm not sure I know which one you're referring to, but there were a couple other little entry lines just above the slab that had also been filled in with branches and deadfall.
Any consideration of taking the FS's message and not riding the trail? At least for a little while? It would probably be a good move if there is ever to be a hope of getting something legitimized in there.
This is below the slab. It puts you in right where the trail veers to the left off the stream bed and down into the woods. But no, I haven't ridden it in a little while.
Is the trail actually closed? I thought I remember reading or hearing something that they can't close it because it's a grandfathered in and established trail. But they can tear down jumps which they have done several times over the years.
I always avoid riding through or anywhere near the campground when it's open. Hence the lower entrance below the campground.
I'll have to look for that. I only get up there via pedal power anymore and am usually pretty zoned out on my front wheel by the time I'm approaching that spot. The branches and deadfall stop right after the slab so they may not have gotten to that one (yet).
They put up one of the exact same signs they posted when they closed the upper section (shown at 1:00 here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7o-0-YReQc0). You would think that if they were going to reclaim the whole thing they would have posted one at the top of the Quarry too. Maybe they're just trying to eliminate access via the campground, or maybe they just haven't gotten around to posting signs and falling trees at the bottom yet. Who knows.
IMO, odds are 0% that section ever becomes official. Probably a good idea to not ride it for awhile though. I saw the sign and quickly moved on, but I seem to remember the old ones mentioning fines....
Ha! Certain parts got really rugged after the flash flood a few years back.
