Saturday did Armstrong-MM-Deer Crest-Spin Cycle. One slightly muddy patch on MM where the snow melt creek crosses, between Spiro and the bench, one snow patch at CMG/MM intersection and one tiny one at MM/Jenn's (this one is gone by now im sure). MM from Jenni's to Guardsmans Clear, from Guardsmans to Deer Crest, 3 big patches of snow. One patch on Deer Crest, one downed tree on Spin Cycle.

Sunday Armstrong-MM-Canyons-Insurgent. One downed tree the whole way, one snow patch (very small). Insurgent is running pretty well, and the new lower hollies re-route is great. Also, new berms all the way down the ski hill under the gondola to canyons base. Very fast, awesome berms. Go get them before they open for the season and become a braking bump hell.

While hauling said bike trailer, and getting raped by a gorilla.

The area around Shadow Lake still needs some time.

They have gone full retard. Only a Gov't agency would solve a problem of not enough of something, but then limiting that something some more to "solve the problem".

Yep, as does Fat Lip/Black Forest. We moved what we could but there are some big multiple tree messes that need gasoline and a chain.

Good news about MM ---> Canyons.

As for the bus situation.....I don't know how anyone could think that setup would last. My bets were on them charging a buck or two for bikes....and people would still lose their shit over it. There is no free lunch....well, sometimes it's there, but then all your smelly friends tell their smelly friends and suddenly everybody is a goddamn bus riding freerider.

I'm buying the $119 PCMR lift pass (Good for Red Pine Gondy too) for my gravity assistance. Lift runs till 7pm, pays off in giggles real quick.

Go-Ride has demos, no idea on price but they're good peeps. Shoot me a PM if you want to meet up for a ride one evening, I should have lots of free time next week.

if you come up to PC to ride, Storm Cycles, Jan's, White Pine, and Colesport all have reasonable full squish trail bikes.

The bus route was for tourists going from their hotels to downtown PC. Bikers took over the buses, literally. Packing them full inside as Joe says was never going to last. They actually did solve their problem; full retard is thinking the bus system was made for bikers.

That said, thanks to all the dipshit locals spreading the word about the bus shuttle and many out-of-town dipshit writers who wrote about the buses. Dunfeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I spoke with some of the guys who were part of the decision to limit busses to 6 bikes. They said the decision stemmed from complaints from drivers about busses packed with +20 bikes. The town council asked the drivers if they'd like bikes banned from the inside and the drivers didnt feel that was necessecary. The town does see the value in providing transport for riders (both local and tourists), though the gravity riders shuttling Empire and Raspberry does make them a bit nervous from a liabiltiy standpoint. They proposed using a short bus + bike trailer, but that idea got nixed. They dont want to put trailers behind big busses. They are open to exploring other ways to carry more bikes on the outside of the bus. I reached out to the owner of Kuat to explain the situation and ask if he had ideas, but his team is too busy to take on a custom design project. In short, this is a solveable problem. Or at least one where the busses could be carrying +10 bikes per lap.

If anyone here has connection at North Shore racks or Recon Racks or want to fundraise $1000 for a custom rack or is just handy with a welding torch, it sounds like the city and bus drivers would be open to alternative rack configurations. There's gotta be a way to put more than 3 bikes on the outside of a city bus.

Rode the Crest Monday morning. Caught a 930am t-storm, though we were a few miles north of the epicenter of the hail and lightning. There's a couple small snow patches to walk over, no deadfall at all, lots of whippersnappers to the arms and legs. Condor trees and the PC side have been cleared of deadfall. Someone even shovedeled out the trail from the first snowpatch. Sounds like Mill D still needs a lot of saw work to be clear. Ricochet to Hollys is was perfect. They took out the waterbars on Hollys, added some berms, mini doubles and mini step down, and some high-g force, grin-inducing giant berms right above Canyons base area.

picked up a rubber boa who didnt want to get out of the trail. they're super gentle lil guys

Great info, Gnarwhale. So is Holly's biker only, since they put in the water bars to slow bikers down? or still two-way with hiker traffic?

Looking at the map, looks like we actually rode Ricochet all the way down. Lower Ricochet was signed as being downhill only directional trail, but I dont think it's bike-only. Think that lower section used to be called Hollys but now Holly's is a slightly lower parallel trail? Spend a year in a wheelchair and you miss a lot of reroutes.

They did that toward the end of last season. Ricochet is bikes and descending only all the way to the bottom, though I would still watch out for confused people trying to come up it. The new part is almost parallel to Holly's. It's nice that they're trying to separate traffic there. Having lower Holly's as the primary option for going back to the base from the bike park wasn't sustainable.

BTW, did you shuttle up to Puke Hill to ride the Crest or did you pedal up?

This is really encouraging news! Surely there's someway to either collect funds from folks willing to contribute or find a way to get them donated? There's a lot of industry connections around.

When riding in park city assume their is a tourist with dogs and kids around every corner. That way it doesn't ruin their day and your day when they are there. It is a rare ride when you don't encounter wrong way traffic if you are out mid day up here. It is crazy how many more people there are than a decade ago.

Fink Again is uphill only? I don't think it's a big deal going down there to get to your car at the bottom of Graduate. Either way I don't care I guess.

I've started to park at Bad Apple by Burts Brothers, simply because I can frequent Park City Brewery. I'm pretty sure its one of the only trailheads that includes a brewery in Utah.

It's not that big a deal to me one way or the other. I just don't understand it when there is crazy 8s just feet away. But whatever: the weird euros made me laugh.

Also: PC brewing has their high point beers for sale now. But you have to take the 6er home because their license is only good for Utah beer on site. I kinda dig the imperial pilsner.

I can't do Crazy 8s because Dropout is too fun. Good to know PC Brewing is finally doing High Point beer!

It's sort of like people who climb Ghost Falls in CC. Whenever I see that I want to stop and ask what the hell is wrong with them.

Dropout > crazy 8s every time. I'm not sure why anyone would ride down Fink again. On that same theme of "yeah you can ride that way, I'm just not sure why you'd want to" are the tourists who ride up Armcone, down Puke hill, and then down Shadow Lk. That's a full 1000ft of lame gravel road descending. WHY? It's gotta be written up with a glowing review in a guidebook somewhere
