VT touring
a friend and i are hoping to get an easy-ish hike/tour in tomorrow afternoon on the way up to burlington. How's the snowpack off-trail around killy, okemo, etc? We were thinking of hitting maple valley, backside of killy, or around magic. Any suggestions for a last minute noob tour? We're both competent skiers but will not have beacons so we're not looking for anything super rad, just wanna get out on snow. flame on.

Since it's 50.6` here at the Bush and the off piste snow is isothermal you should have a great time on the west side of Killy. Post a TR of your adventure.

Spruce @Stowe has been serving up great wide open easy access corn skiing. Less than hour bottom to top.

Thanks for being an ass. I'm well aware of the direction that the back side of killy faces, and i'm not looking for some super secret stash or something, just wanna get outside and ski something that's not at a ski area. How far north do we realistically have to go to ski something without man made snow?

,lol at first I gave you the benefit of the doubt but really what does it matter by the time snow has been frost freezed so many times if the snow is manmade or not?
You said quick easy tour....apparently you have no idea that most anything way south is just gone unless its north facing and probably man made.

Sorry, I wasn't mentioning man made in regards to quality, just that anywhere there's snowmaking is obviously going to have more snow at this point, i.e. how far south is it still possible to ski not at a ski area. And you're right, I didn't have any idea that anything not north facing is gone, hence why I asked. Guess I'll drive farther north.

Stick to the closed resorts, way better skiing right now, BC is mushy/sinky/manky/rotten right now....

Ended up climbing Bolton and doing a few laps there. Skiing rotten groomers isn't rad enough to appease the masses here so I won't waste your time with a real TR.

Proposed "self served ski area" at the former Dutch Hill in VT should be interesting.
Also, have seen many skinning at the former Hogback ski area (nearby Dutch) in Southern VT
