You must not have any idea what you're talking about. Defensively he was average at best, maybe at his peak above average but he was rarely deserving of those GG awards. It was kind of an ongoing joke. There are several statistics that show this. Try google if you don't believe me. Stupid response.

I think my favorite Jeter fielding joke is that when he first came up, everyone thought his first name was "Past a diving" from listening to the play call.
Jeter was an incredible player in many ways, but being an everyday SS wasn't one of them.
fun to watch, Jeets made some awesome plays.. the guys an icon
He also didn't even get to many balls that a lot of other shortstops would have. No argument about him being an all time great player, but the golden gloves are total bullshit.
Here's a good link: http://grantland.com/features/the-tr...jeter-defense/
"On the other side are the advanced statistics, which disregard Gold Gloves and treat a flashy-looking jump-throw just like any other assist. According to two historical play-by-play-based systems, Baseball Prospectus’s Fielding Runs Above Average and Baseball-Reference’s Total Zone, Jeter has cost his team more in the field than any other player in history, with both methods assessing the damage at 230 to 260 runs."
I nominate this thread for the biggest drift ever
Misleading statistic--save percentage has been climbing for years. All the others in the top 10 but 2 are currently playing (and Thomas played last season). It's like comparing Home Run Baker to Barry Bonds. Hasek dominated the competition in a way none of the current best do. In any case, anyone who understands 92.2% of the posts in this forum is doing damn well. I'm at about 30% myself.
Brodeur?
