    Ocean Springs, MS thoughts/experiences/Nash rant

I realize that when I say Ocean Springs, MS that not everyone's hand is going to fly up with epic stories, but the company I work for is considering moving from Nashville to Ocean Springs, and to be honest, I'm so sick of the Nashville weather, not to mention it's quite a ways to any place that I consider beautiful, like the NC border. The gray, which I thought was a mid-west thing, is also a Nashville thing, and I'm just ready to get the fuck out of here. It's strange that if the sun is out at all, it's hot as ballz, and if it's behind clouds, it's cold. As a Colorado/San Jose kid this weather doesn't make any sense to me. There aren't just any completely pleasant days hardly at all.

So, after all that, anyone got any input on Ocean Springs? At least they've got the beach and girls in bikinis, right? Good times in NOLA nearby. It's still east of Texas, which is a place I never wanted to be, but it might be better...?

I've never been there but a buddy of mine picked Nashville over NOLA, ect. for his brother's bachelor party destination. I'd for the most part consider him a smart guy. Better stay put.
See you at the peeler spot of your choice the end of this month. I'll even buy you a drink with the $$ i'm going to win from the pool.

Thanks for the input, but I'd never live in New Orleans, nothing against it except I like keeping my head (and my tv) above water. They might be close to each other but very different feels. The weather here just absolutely wears on you. They don't know what a 65-72 degree sunny day is.

I appreciate the drink offer, my friend. Either way, hit he up. I'll be here, and I work stupid hours, 3-10 AM Saturday thru Tuesday, so I'll be around.

If you're concerned about keeping your shit above the water line then the Gulfport/Biloxi/Ocean Springs area may not be the ideal choice for you. They're no better off than New Orleans in terms of sea level or hurricane activity and they don't have the food or music or culture that serves to justify some of the risk associated with being there. I'd want to get out of Nashville too, but I think that the MS gulf coast would be a lateral move more than an upgrade.

MS coast = 100% humidity, 100% of the time and the beaches suck ass, worst of any on the Gulf Coast.

I've been to the redneck riveria - panama city, fl - and it is a cultural waste land of large trucks and the stars and bars. I was blown away by the ignorance of the locals

Neither does the MS coast, except for maybe around Christmas/New Years. It's either humid 50s-60s and raining/overcast (late fall & winter) or humid 80s-90s (all other seasons.)

Here's the lovely spring weather for the next 10 days: http://www.weather.com/weather/tenda...+MS+39564:4:US

77% humidity or higher. Fuck that.

Do you really mean the Stars and Bars (aka the first national flag of the Confederate States of America)? Here they are:

Or do you mean the one of the more recognizable flags such as the Second Confederate Naval jack?
    I see hydraulic turtles.

I like New Orleans better than Nashville, personally. Sounds like Ocean Springs has some similarities and differences to NOLA...but I like that it's close enough to NOLA to bounce down there for some biggish city stuff. Nashville is hot and humid at times too, so I'd make the move personally. That and I like being near a big body of water.

That big body of water down there is hot, flat, and surprisingly smelly.

Agreed...this is a valid point to consider. what's the old adage...if it smells like trout, GET OUT! that was intended for vagina tho, but could be applicable to a big body of water too.

Compared to the Biloxi area, Panama City is actually livable.

No shit - it even has a name - the Emerald Coast - due to the color of the water. The stretch between Destin/FWB and Panama City is actually very beautiful and wild. The MS coast not so much due to the Barrier islands (WTFO) and the true Mississippi Delta spewing mud and filth.

Someone above said the MS coast is among the worst in the land and from my somewhat limited perspective I agree. That smell has to come from somewhere.
