He may be. He's also fairly amusing. Since my sole interaction with him is that he hosts a TV show I watch, I only care about the amusing part.

So it'd be ok for him to remain host of a fav TV show regardless of his behavior? No limits?

January 2012 - Indian diplomats complained about a 90-minute India special in which a car fitted with a toilet in its boot is described by Clarkson as "perfect for India because everyone who comes here gets the trots."
    I'm sorry, but that's funny.

I find that show unwatchable outside of the track tests. He's not funny, he's an asshole.

Sometimes dick heads can be entertaining. It's a shame if the last episodes don't get aired.

I had always assumed his trash talk about producers and the BBC in general was just part of his shtick. I guess it goes a little deeper than that. .

Helen Mirren took him to pieces when she was driving the reasonably priced car.

He was sitting there all tongue out and slobbery over her... and they discussed living in London in the yuppie/hooray henry 80s...."oh you were one of those awful people weren't you" was her take down. It was like watching someone be knee capped.

    Classy broad.

Can you please keep in mind that I was responding to something written by digital death? Something that did not even make sense (unless you happen to know precisely what a "shitlord" is). Context matters, my good fellow.

Beyond that this matter strikes me as being quite like the SAE fraternity issue in Oklahoma: somebody has done something shitty, and the responsible adults have taken care of the matter, nothing more to see, here. Adding further to that context issue I've raised.

I understand the OED definition is actually just a picture of Clarkson?

I work in TV and cannot count the number of Producers I've been around that deserved a punch or 2 at times. That said I've never seen anyone actually do it.

Benny and I agree on something.

As far as Brit car shows go, I like Mike and Edd. Edd rattle cans bodywork and his head sticks out of sunroofs when he test drives cars.

I didn't realize there were so many people here who thought that Clarkson wasn't funny or are offended by him.

Huh????? The BBC is really going to kill the Golden Goose that lays so much revenue for them? I am certain another company would love to pick up Top Gear for the World audience that watches it. I would have canned the producer for pissing Jeremy off.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

In the real world you can't dismiss employees for getting punched because they mildly irritated people.

Perhaps in a more commercial environment than the BBC a settlement might have been arrived at... but not at the BEEB with it' s level of oversight and in the face of charter renewal and proposed budgetary changes ongoing at moment

He's going to Sky (Fox) no question. Contract was up anyway so he probably would have gone regardless... in fact this might be somewhat deliberate on his part.

No, but you can easily make up another reason. Creative differences comes to mind.

And Clarkson is the quintessential car guy/critic. He's an asshole and doesn't pull punches (unless the BBC has recently threatened his job). Every decent car guy who knows anything is like him. Some are more good natured and kind than others. Not everything is car talk smothered in kindness and gentle humor.

Best damn car show on the planet. And if you don't think so, try to watch fifth gear, top gear Australia, or top gear USA (shudder). They got it right, they just need to quit screwing with it.

    POWER!!!!!!!

Also totally fitting that it was Top Gear USA that was the final segment on Top Gear UK. Like the kiss of death.

Wheeler Dealer is a great show. The new ones where they trade up cars across the world is pretty hokey. But the nuts and bolts shows are pretty awesome, learn something new every time.

BBC don't work like that. It's set up so that it can't pay off people because it's run by public money. The nearest comparable would be to regard Clarkson and Punched guy as employes of a City or State even military... you normally can't just make money appear to make stuff like this to go away because the finances are in the public eye/overseen.

    Every?

Decent, not punchy, car (talk) guys.

Nice selective edit there PNW. You want to tag on the next sentence?

"Some are more good natured and kind than others"

Tom and Ray are pegged on that side of the scale, but they have their moments of being very opinionated and stubborn asses, and even abusive of their callers in some more rare instances. They just do it/did it in a good natured way. I'd bet they're a little less kind in their shop behind closed doors.
