Picked them up from boulder sports recycler, best consignment store in the front range. They had just come in today and weren’t on the floor yet but i asked one of the employees about it and he set me up with them

    Timing is everything. 176 BMT94 & 184 Katana, or 186 BMT94 & 191 Katana?

Thanks and Praises to cat for hooking me up with these to join the club. I ended up with Vertical FT12’s about .5cm forward to best avoid/reuse the existing holes… I look forward to checking them out!

How does the BMT 90 feel in comparison? Found a pair locally for sale in 185 for a good price and wondered how they feel with the change to rocker / camber / rocker. Also, how do they compare to the Blizzard Zero G 95 in the same length?

The BMT 90 is not the same and unfortunately, not magical. Still a great ski, it just doesn't have the same magic.

Can't make a true comparison to be zeroG other than to say that those two skis are about as different as touring skis of the same waist width could possibly be.

So are the BMT 90s a soft, forgiving ski? Seems like they have a similar shape, with the Volkls having a longer rocker and slightly shorter radius.

I was comparing the bmt94 to the zeroG95. Bmt94 is loose, forgiving, full rocker, all things the zeroG isn't

I had my first day on my 176 94’s wednesday and they easily out performed my old light skis. One unexpected benefit of the rocker profile was flying down the skintrack out on a warm day, less contact with the warm wet snow meant i had a much easier time getting out than my partners

While I wouldn't call them similar at all and their construction is vastly different, the Zero G 95 (23.0m in 178) has a pretty similar sidecut to the BMT94 (22.4m in 176) and the Blizzard has a lot less camber than other popular skis in the category such as the Dynafit Blacklight 95, Movement Alp Tracks 95 and Scott Superguide 95.

they feel a bit different, though they both ski great imho. The ski feel is kinda what you'd expect from comparing their shapes. I've posted some ski geometries / flex pattern graphs of them in the past, but can't seem to find them through google search anymore.

The 94s straighter shape cuts through stuff a bit better and can be skied a bit harder, whereas BMT90s initiate more float from the shovel and generates more pop out of the turn on harder snow. Both tails releases very easily in soft snow, and both skis ski better the faster you ski them - the construction works incredibly well and is damp for being so carbon heavy (6 full layers, not a stiff light core with carbon stringers like a lot of "carbon" touring skis). Their flex patterns are similar, though the 94's might have a tad moree supportive tails.

I have not skied them back to back in the size, something I will remedy before long. 94s 186s can be skied a fair bit harder than 177 90s. It is not that the 90 has a defined speed limit, more that the 94 can be skied harder than it ought to be able to.

the 94 is the unicorn, while the 90 is a very good touring ski in its own right. I will happily recommend either.

I have never skied ZGs. Their flex pattern is stiff as hell though, so prob a more demanding ski at high speeds or difficult snow. So even though their geometries could be fairly similar, I would expect them to ski a bit differently.

Curious what conditions everyone is finding themselves using the 94 in most? After combing through this thread and reading all the love this ski gets has got me interested. Currently have a mid fat ski I use for all my touring and after last winter wished I had a narrower ski to continue my season into the spring. Would the 94 be a wise choice on firm snow/corn? Or should I look for something with some camber? I'm a bigger guy around 200lbs not kitted and think I'd lean more towards the 186cm length.

It’s a great corn-harvester. It’s not that great on refrozen / not yet thawed. But if you ski conservatively it will work fine. Trying to ski it fast on edge in rough icy conditions does not work for me

For sure, but then again if that is the kind of snow that is on the menu I tend not go touring

Heritage Labs BC90 in 184 might be a really good option as well.
