Twins : You want to know why I stay in this room?
Jake Huard : Yeah.
Twins : Cause Jake, you're my Mississippi.
Jake Huard : I'm your what?
Twins : People who live in Arkansas, you know what their favorite state is?
Jake Huard : No.
Twins : Mississippi. Cause Mississippi's the only thing that keeps Arkansas from being the worst state in the whole country.

Update to the above story. Guy the cops killed and threw in an unmarked pauper’s grave had HIS WALLET IN HIS POCKET and they couldn’t be bothered to identify him and tell his mother.

I’m a pretty mild mannered moderate guy, one reason I lurk so much more than posting but this shit enrages me. Fuck the police.
And for those who say Hinds Co MS is 69% Black with a Black sheriff, a reminder that the race of a cop is “Cop”
A lot of this has to deal with the relationship between racism and income inequality. Cops (MOST cops) are conditioned to take way more shortcuts and do a shitty job in encounters with people they believe will not be able to afford a good lawyer to keep things fair. It's no coincidence that a lot more people in that
low income category happen to be black. Black cops DGAF because the shortcuts make their job easier.. and if they speak out against it retaliation can be fatal..

I think that too many people dont grasp how difficult the job of a cop is, and how low the standard is to become a cop. It really should come as a surprise that bad cops aren't more common, IMO.
IMO, we have to change what the job entails (division of duties instead of forcing cops to be a jack of all trades), or we have to change who the people are that are becoming LEOs.
I agree with this. We also need apolitical oversight on practices so bad cops get nipped in the bud before they do real damage. Also a better set of support expectations and practices to ensure police also get the help they need. From what I know, a ton of untreated psych trauma from the shit people see.
It came to light during a sanitation workers strike that garbage collectors in this town make AMOST as much money as the police do all other things equal, experience, years of service, etc.. I'd much rather haul garbage, have holidays off, same city benefits as the mayor, and not work night shifts for less than $2/hr difference in pay.
That seems to suggest cops are in it for other reasons since they could easily apply for other similar paying jobs internal applicant city jobs. They're likely a bit messed up in the head before they even start patrolling the streets.. I don't know about you, but MOST of the kids I knew who talked about becoming cops in my late teens were pretty sketchy people already.. There's also the massive pool of combat vets who are working the forces here. No wonder they treat us like we're enemy combatants in a war zone..
Are they all "bad people"? Nope, but they certainly ALL look the other way or outright cover for very bad things done by very bad people they work with.

One bad apple can spoil the barrel. Yet most cop defenses claim they were just a few bad apples. That’s lots of spoilage and why acab if true in that way

Harnett County deputy out on bond after being arrested for sexually exploiting children
According to the sheriff's office, 35-year-old Johnathan Andrew Edwards has been charged with 10 counts of felony first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of felony obstruction of justice.
...........
According to arrest warrants obtained by WRAL News, Edwards sexually exploited multiple children ranging from the ages of 7 years old to 17 years old. The warrants said Edwards then destroyed digital evidence, which led to him being charged with obstruction of justice.

Hopefully this will teach EMT's not to take medical orders from cops. Still the EMT's got screwed, the cops that were acquitted will likely be back in court the next time they kill someone. And any doctor who signs off on a death due to agitated or excited delirium should lose their license. Increasing numbers of medical organizations are discarding this diagnosis, which somehow ONLY seems to occur when people are in police custody.
Acorn falls on cop's car, cop proceeds to empty his gun into his own car. The video is insane.

Dude, lay off the Red Bull!
(Or meth or coke)
Edit - I didn’t read the Twitter post before posting here
Holee shit - not only did the deputy empty his gun at his own car, his Sergeant did as well.
And every shot (thankfully) missed the guy sitting handcuffed in the car.
The deputy resigned
The county has a shot up cruiser
The guy they arrested likely has a tort claim
A few bad acorns.
How the guy in the backseat not only survived but didn’t even get hit is both amazing and hysterical
I would pay good money to see a third person view of that safety roll he did after he was “shot”
