I put chalk on my shaft last night.

Lately I have been losing a 1-2 cm of seat height over the course of a MTB ride even with the quick release clamp torqued down tight.

Figured I would try the chalk on the seat post trick before buying a better quick release.

    Will report back.

You could try some carbon paste on the post. I've found that it adds a bit of grip - sometimes too much, and had to use grease instead of paste on one carbon post in order to get it to fit.

and you can try a dob of grease or lube your QR clamp. You can loose a lot of clamping power if that's dry/dirty
