Sizing a pair of scarpa rs for my GF

    So,
Last year was my GF first season backcountry skiing.
Bought some garmont lustre size 25.
She fell them pretty well adjusted at the time of purchase.
They were a good deal so we take them, I though the liner would pack out..
Turns out even after ten days still too small and hurting her toes badly.
Then we found a pair of pegasus in 26. Basically the same as the scarpa RS with old schoold liner and basic plastic.
Size was 26, so we exchange the garmont for those.
Boots are super comfy, GF was happy.
But towards teh end of the season and 50 days later she now starting to shred, boots are too loose, her foot moves tons. Plus the boots are heavy and kinda soft.
This year she want new boots. So I though going with the scarpa gea rs should do the trick.
We went to the shop, the bootfitter says go with the 25 (didn't have the 25,5).
Now we are at home, haven't bake the liner yet, GF got boots on and wonder if her feet are pulsating or what's not.
    So to the point:
Scarpa shell size goes 25, 25.5 then 26, 26.5 correct?
Is there any difference in the liner between lenght between 25 and 25.5?
Does anyone have experience with the Scarpa liners? Do they pack tons?

Forgot to add that the finger test gives a bit more than one finger on the 25 shell, and a bit more than 2 on the 26..

    1) incorrect, scarpa shell 24.5/25, 25.5/26 are the same! shell gets bigger at 1/2 size

    2) yes 25.5 is a size bigger

    3) not much after they are baked! it will make a ton of difference to heat mold them to eliminate hot spots, after that a few days of break in, but if it's killing her after it has been molded, don't expect to go away after a few days of break in!

    4) naked pics of said GF if you have more questions!

Your fingers or her fingers? (A mm measurement is better.)

    mfa81's post is spot on.

Additionally: the Gea comes stock with an Intuition Pro Tour. Many people like the liner—I think they're a little high volume for tight-fitting boots, and I prefer an thinner liner. But yes, it will mold to her foot *significantly* during the baking process. What shop are you going to where they sell boots without baking the liner for free? Did you make a follow-up appointment? Do they guarantee the fit?

25 is going to be the correct size for her, given the shell fit. The Intuition liner in the Gea RS MUST be molded and should feel too tight before it is molded. Makes sense that she was in a 26 in the Pegasus - the non-moldable liner in that boot is quite a big thicker than the RS's Intuition and most people need to size up to be comfortable in that boot.

Get the boot molded to her foot and she will be happy.

Also, there is no difference between 24.5 and 25, or between 25.5 and 26, other than how the liner is pre-molded out of the box. Both liners have the exact same amount of foam and will fit exactly the same once molded. So don't go switching to a 25.5 thinking that she'll be OK in the bigger shell because the liner is thicker - because it's not.

It is easier to make a slightly too small boot bigger than a slightly too big boot smaller.

Since you are talking about the 2 different brands of boot that size differently we should point out that In a Scarpa boot a size 25.5 & a 26 will use the same shell BUT in every other brand of ski boot a size 25 & a 25.5 will use the same shell

SO Scarpa changes on the half size while everyone else changes on the full size, 25 sounds right if the boot is the right shape for her foot, it should be baked and then you may need punches

In a new boot purchase the shop should heat mold the liner for you ... whom did you buy from?

If I didn't know better it sounds like you bought them from Rog but he lives 5000 miles away

    Thanks guy,
We bought the boots at Comor in vancouver. Liner haven't been molded because the shop was too busy at time of purchase.
But we have an appointment coming. The guy who fit her seems very knowledgeable.
Sounds like we are going to get them baked and see how it goes.

and here two pics of the said GF end of may this year on rainier:
