It's been an amazing week and a half since it started snowing again. The 2" on Friday was 12"-15" in hanging valley...

Grskier, I'm skiing Snowmass Wednesday-Friday this week, has patrol been pretty good about getting things open quickly/have things been getting tracked out quickly?

Patrol has been pretty good about getting things open.. it's been a funky year. Some things are filled in, others.. not so much. Wednesday - Friday and tracked out..... you have a few hours before you should be crossing many tracks.

No double diamond gates opened at Snowmass today. Neither did Longshot/Burnt Mtn. West Coast Cream Cheese snow today. First tracks were great, crossing tracks got dicey.

Tomorrow and Wednesday should be colder/better snow quality but I wouldn't expect gates to pop early.

High avalanche danger with this new wet layer. No gated terrain besides hanging valley glades opened today on snowmass.

Well in any case I'll be skiing Snowmass wed-friday, so if any local mags are skiing those days, could be cool to meet up for a few runs. A gate drop Wednesday would definitely suit my schedule.

    Sorry, none left.
Ridiculous scrum ensued moments after this pic as they dropped the rope and this marauding pack got after the goods, which by the way were really good!

Chiming in after winter stalled out from Jan 2 - Feb 17...

The past two weeks have been tons of fun. Last Friday was a total sleeper with unbelievable snow in the Bowl (GR - I think I followed your Avant into the garage). Crazy light ~6" blew in. Yesterday I celebrated another trip around the sun and a foot of fresh awaited in Steep 'N Deep and no one skiing it.

But then today... a foot of cold blower at Ajax? Bingo, Silver Queen Ridge, Anaconda, Trainors all joining the party? A top-10 all-time day for me this morning. Just super fun skiing and great stoke all around. Nice timing for Freeskier's rippers to be around, eh?

The wind is gusting now. Might see a little reload in the bowl and east-facing aspects. Ski it while it lasts!

Agreed. I have gone skiing with 11" plus in the report many times but today was just insane for whatever reason. I caught the rope drop on Kristi at about 9:35am on my second gondy lap, words cannot describe how good it was.

Today was awesome... agreed. I should have just gone out first thing... darn job. I hit Highlands around lunch... great turns 1/2 up the bowl, but man it was full on 50mph winds and snowing.... and blue at the base

I grabbed a gopro this am... I'll throw up an edit tonight.

Blue with a DPS sticker in the side back window is me.

30" is my usual 'reset' thresh hold number for a week... 40"+ just makes it baller.

    X2

Felt like fricken drunk staggering around up there in that wind and whiteout at times...little frost nip on the cheek but it was totally worth it ...

    You are the 3 percent!

Anyway sounds like they aren't in a hurry to replace 1A... I wonder how serious the FIS is about moving the WC if they don't put in a new lift, etc. Where else are they gonna go at that time of year that can compare to Aspen?
I'm hearing this conversation is still ongoing, and may determine when other lift projects will occur.

Busiest day in Bonnie's history on Saturday. The spring breakers know Colorado is the only place that has decent snow.

Snowmass was busy on Saturday? From a person who skis Tahoe, I was blown away at how empty the place seemed. I waited about 1 minute once for Alpine Springs chair. The only other place I saw a line in my 7 days skiing Snowmass and Highlands was the Cirque poma. The whole Roaring Fork Valley was quiet compared to the people fest that is Tahoe.

We had a kick-ass time. Sunday - Saturday with soft snow skiing, plenty of storm days. Plenty of sunny days. Couldn't have timed my vacation any better. The Roaring Fork Valley is a top 4 ski destination for me now.

Seems like it would be a kick ass place to live. The year round recreational opportunities are endless!!

Yeah the busiest days here are less crowded than a normal day at many other places, no doubt about it.

You definitely nailed the timing on your vacation, I still can't stop talking about Wednesday morning.

    Wednesday was an incredible day.

You guys are spoiled. I waited longer to get a beer than to get on a chairlift!!
