Learn to say no without using the word 'no' and stick to it. If the little shit's old enough to work, I caddied at age 12 and beyond, make them work for what they want. Have them work thru high school even during the school year part time and thru college. Do not give them their 1st car. Why should you? Maybe chip in some, but make things meaningful and earned.

If you actually have values beyond the material, you will teach them to your kids. If you don't have them, or don't act on them, don't be surprised if you end up with a materialistic little dick or bitch who wants to go to the Ivy League so they can get rich.

All of which comes back to the only piece of parenting advice that matters: spend time with your kids, lots of it.

The article, which has next to nothing to do with the above, or with DasCunt's title, is a good one. As the recipient of a traditional liberal arts education from a third tier school, I agree wholeheartedly. I'm encouraging my kid to evaluate colleges exactly along the lines the author recommends.

It said during the 2013-2014 academic year they totaled $63.9 million in donations. Holy fuck, I found that surprising. Makes me wonder where all the rest of the money goes from tuition.
