Question for Ski Techs K2 marker MX 12.0 Binding failing release test

Question for Ski Techs K2 Marker MX 12.0 Binding failing release test
These are the integrated bindings that were sold on a lot of K2. So Ski Techs probably have a lot of experience mounting and testing them.

I sold a pair of NOS K2 marker MX 12.0 bindings this spring and the buyer said they didn't pass the release test after the ski shop mounted them. The Toepiece wouldn't return to center. Is this common for these bindings? The buyer also said he had another pair of the exact bindings that failed the release test. Is this a problem with this binding? or problem with binding setup or boot wear. Click image for larger version.

I never had a lot of trouble with those, but it is a marker. 80% of the broken or flawed bindings that came through were markers. Lots of people around here seem to be coming around to them and say their modern designs are fine but I don't trust them.

Is the binding failing the release test or is it just not returning to center after release?
Marker 'logic' toe pieces will sometimes stick like that if they have not had many lateral releases in their lifetime but will be fine once they are "exercised" a bit.

This. Marker toes are a little sticky.

Not returning to center after a full release doesn't fail the binding. Your heelpiece doesn't close itself after you pop out of it.

The toes pass the torque/release test. They just don't return to center after release. The shop tried lubing the toe but it didn't work. These are New Old Stock bindings.

Those toes are maintenance free. Ski them!
