Since I've started taking 200mg of magnesium daily per my doc all my aches and pains have gone away. No more lower back pain, knee, hip and I sleep much much better. Check it out. The Mayo Clinic page has info on the benefits of adding magnesium and sleep.

Agreed. I drink some every night. Game changer for overall aches and pains and soreness of workouts etc.

This is the truth right here. With probiotics as well:

    Agreed.

I learned long ago not to change my pillow setup in a drastic manner. Smacked the back right side of my skull as a kid. 30 years later I bust a knuckle on my ex-BIL's face with my right hand and just for added measure I dislocated my right shoulder a year later. Yes my entire right side is a mess. When my neck locks up it can take days for it to go away therefore the 2 pillow setup with the bottom one being a angled foam wedge with a memory foam pillow on top has been my salvation.

Which one you using? Been using this one and it's powerful. Had you take a lot less than recommended bc of the draino effect. Like to have another option once I'm done with it.

I take a pill that is prescription (plain white pill with no markings, magnesium only). It's nothing special, not entirely sure why she wrote a script but oh well. It's cheap and easy to pick up so I don' t care one way or the other.. It's actually 400mg but I had to back off because of said "draino effect" plus it was making me really lethargic (she started me on half a pill for 10 days then had me go to a whole. I backed off on my own). I use a pill splitter and cut it in half.

I have to say taking magnesium changed my life. Menopause joint pain was killing me. I could barely walk up stairs and began to wonder what I was going to be like when I was 70. Now I have no pain at all. Used to have to sit with a heating pad at night for my low back but no more of that either. Truly a miracle for me and it's nothing special. Just magnesium.

Thanks KQ. I'll ask my pharmacist if they have anything that gets prescribed.

Having a medical bed delivered this week and Mom asked for a better mattress. Obviously I can't wait for the Internet ordered one to show up someday. Anyone have comments on the Costco Novafoam brand?

KQ, for someone that’s having arthritis (early 70s), does magnesium help as well? Hoping it could help a family member but this is the first I’ve heard of it for pain.

Gosh I dunno if it would or not but def. worth a try. Recommendation is to give it 3 months before you decide if it's helpful. Start with 200 - 250mg. I have 400mg pills that I split in half. You can up it to 400/500mg after a week. I was at 400mg but backed down because of the deano effect [emoji51]

Here is some info from thg he Mayo clinic:

    bumping for recent wisdom/experience

looking for a king hybrid mattress hoping to keep cost under $2k; wirecutter points us to Leesa

any recent mag wisdom in the mattress world?
given the inability to compare apples, is there a reason to consider name brands?

We bought the really nice hybrid Saavta mattress in a queen and it's been fantastic the two years we've had it. I am guessing a king with them is probably about two grand. I would skip the name brands based on All The Independents out there making quality stuff

We have the Saatva hybrid in a Cal King. Super comfy after 4 years. Can’t recall the price but less than comparable Sealy, Simmons etc. They aren’t the foldable mattresses in a box

Consumer Reports just reviewed mattresses in their latest issue, but I don't have it in front of me right now.

if you have a gift link to penetrate the paywall for reccos, that'd be awesome

Here's the innerspring ratings. Assuming that includes conventional and hybrids mattresses.

Not familiar with the HD mattress as I think ours was the Latex with inner springs one. Dead last though???? I am surprised.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

I went and laid down on a bunch of store mattresses.
Sort of amazing how different they can be within a class.

I have to admit the Tempurpedic and Purple really felt the best.

Others there were Serta, Sealy, Beautyrest, Stearns/Foster, Nectar, Parklane, Kingsdown

Given that wildly different feels, I soured on the mail order idea, despite the various recommendations. Likely going to try Purple as they offer free return if you don’t like it. Others charge restocking/cleaning fees. So maybe put that off until later, if we get that far.

I have a high end tempurpedic that cost a few grand and 4 beds from tuft and needle that cost a few hundred each that are better. I have a few back problems so seek stability, but recommend the latter. I tried everything avail in store
