I'm developing a dent on my side of the Pangea. It's been about 1.5 years... not sure how this will play out. It's still super comfortable, but I'm a little disappointed.

bingo...had it with my tempurpedic...calling up today to get another on the warranty deal and selling it cheap. the foam never resets...like sleeping in hole. back to springs....i get my best sleep in hotels that have traditional, good, firm spring mattresses.
yeah a "dent" is perhaps a better word than "hole"
I bought this mattress for dirt cheap and love it. Cheap enough that I can toss it in a guest room and not be pissed if I didn't like it.

Ended up going with a Serta Hybrid foam/innerspring in a firm feel. Pretty happy with the deal I got, hoping the mattress will give me 5-7 good years of service. The other thing that sucked about the Tuft and Needle is that it's like trying to fuck in quicksand.
I loved the Beautyrest Black Hybrid I tried, but I can't bring myself to drop that kind of coin on a mattress at this point in my life.

^^^i agree...the deed is much better on some kind of spring mattress.
Polyurethane foam beds suck unless its for a guest room. It's about the cheapest stuff you can put in a bed and it breaks down giving you a dent.
Tuft and needle/capser/others are just a marketing shells selling other people's stuff. You can get something like it for less from a company like zinus or even costco.
There are plenty of great foams out there. After all the crashes I've had, I only get about 5-6 hours a night on a good bed. Energex seemed to be the best foam for me but good latex works well too.
No can do, it's a hybrid latex/memory/support foam layup. Flip it and you're sleeping on hard base foam. To be clear, I still sleep great on it and might actually find it more comfortable than new (it was too firm for my liking right out of the box). But if the dent continues and becomes a hole that's probably not going to be fun.

For those in the Bay Area, European Sleepworks in Berkeley makes fantastic mattresses (coils + latex foam + a wool layer), not cheap, but not nearly in the Dux-Bed price range either.
Any of you jongs have a Beauty rest Black Ice foam mattress? https://www.beautyrest.com/Black-Mem...ia-Luxury-Firm I ran into a wholesaler who said he can get me a new queen size for $600. Sounds either hot or to good to be true.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.
Eh, it's 100% foam so that pricing isn't out of question since cost is very low on those. Have you lain on one? Different foams sleep very differently. If you have the coin and the local demo spot to check them out, latex foam is the shit as it doesn't change with heat.
After reading this thread and doing way too much online reading we went with Avocado. I didn't see any mention of it here but we're super stoked. Springs, latex, organic cotton, and wool. None of the nasty chemicals, polyurethane, fire retardant, etc. 100% natural, easy 0% financing, free shipping and 100 day return policy with 25 year warranty.
I've seen them.
pros-
They are pretty organic and use... mostly good stuff.
I like the feel I got from 10 minutes on one.
I think you get a good deal for what you pay.
- no polyurethane
cons-
They are thin, you are getting at least 3" less mattress. How does it hold up if you are getting 30% less? They are cheaper because you get less.
Instead of glue that's illegal in 18 states because it gives you cancer, they quilt it. I don't think quilting foam works for very long. Nobody does it that way for a reason.
I have only seen one company use a water based proprietary (not solvent based) glue.
You still have to use fire retardant or its not legal. If they tell you otherwise they are not telling the truth.
wtf
I don't think I want to sleep on wool but some people may think that's a plus.
You can grow latex naturally on a farm?
I'm not sure about the longevity of their cores. Mattress warranties have lots of fine print. You usually have to sleep on the bed for 100 days before they are willing to take it back. As for the 25 years, you may have to send it back and have it rebuilt. Who does that? What are they going to do, duct tape it? Will they be around that long? I think the market is too crowded.
I have bought three king sized mattresses in the last year. Two were Sealy Posturepedic (which is a spring mattress), and another was a Saatva (hybrid). I've also purchased multiple other memory foam mattresses for some rental units that I manage. I sleep mostly on the Saatva at our primary residence, and a few times a week on the Sealy Posturepedic. The Sealy also has a thin foam topper that was given to us and we put on just because we have it. I've also purchased multiple other memory foam mattresses for some rental units that I manage.
Of all of these, I think that the Sealy Posturepedic is the most comfortable. I tend to sleep the best on it and wake up noticeably less sore.
The Saatva is OK, better than our old mattress that was a "Organic" something similar to an Avacado.
The main advantage of the memory foam mattresses is the shipping and setup. After that, in my experience, they just aren't that comfortable.
YMMV
70% of olive oil is fake. How do you know your "natural latex" isn't?
https://www.foodrenegade.com/your-ex...live-oil-fake/
Natural Latex
Originally, rubber was produced from the latex of Ficus elestica, a type of fig tree. Today, most natural rubber (also called India rubber) is derived from the natural latex extracted from the Pará rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis), a plant native to the Amazon but now grown commercially in equatorial regions of Southeast Asia. Latex is harvested from the trees by slitting the bark and allowing the milky latex to seep out for collection, a process similar to that used to tap maple trees for sap. After tapping, chemicals are added to keep the latex from stiffening up. It may go through processes like coagulation, centrifugation, compounding, vulcanization, stripping, leaching, chlorination, and lubrication in creating the final natural rubber product. Natural latex is thought to be a cause of allergies in some people, although some studies suggest that it is not the latex itself, but the chemicals used during manufacturer that may actually cause the allergic reactions.
Synthetic Latex
Synthetic latex is also a liquid emulsification of polymers, but rather than natural plant polymers, synthetic rubber uses various substances found in petroleum products. Synthetic rubbers are typically stronger and more stable than natural latex rubber for products such as tires. Some people believe that synthetic latex is also less likely to cause severe allergic reactions. However, people with certain chemical sensitivities may find synthetic latex to be more problematic than natural rubber.
Ok. But thats not what you said.
Osteoarthritis did it to me. All the crashes add up.

The conspiracy makes me laugh. I’m intimately familiar with that company. Too big, too fast, BAD real estate deals, BAD management.
ROLL TIDE ROLL
Hey all, bumping this back to the top.
My gf and I are looking to get a queen mattress. She sleeps cold, I sleep hot. Looking to keep it under $1,000, possibly under $500.
Browsing the last few pages of this thread it looks like Novaform Serafina - especially from Costco - is the leading contender. Also saw solid feedback on Avocado, Loom & Leaf, and Tuft & Needle. Anything else to consider? Any thoughts on the Zinus Memory foam from AMZ (https://www.amazon.com/Zinus-Memory-...p/B00Q7EPSHI)? I've had a few friends say they love it.
Appreciate all the wisdom in this thread!
