I had a similar experience with London. Was accepted to KCL for my doctorate program but though I love London as a visitor after two visits in the dreary English winter to have meetings with the prof who would be my advisor I realized I couldn't hack London. Too dreary, expensive and far from skiing. Ended up going somewhere else.
And for an undergrad not much beats an American or Canadian University campus experience!
