So now the question... when does 70 open back up? I know they already have planned avy mitigation during the day today, so my guess is sometime tomorrow late morning?

Friend landed at DEN this morning. He wanted to get home. I told him that he could try 285 but it was risky to save an hour, safer to go to C Springs and do 24 all the way. He chose 285 and is stuck in Alma waiting on Hoosier vehicle shenanigans. But that's decent progress for 4 hours. I told him it'd take him 6 hours to get home from the airport. I might be right.

On a CDOT conf call today they mentioned they will do avy mitigation at the tunnel at 7AM tomorrow morning.

Saw on the Colorado Sun that 70 reopened, like cravenmorhead said, but only to passenger vehicles, and it is still closed to commercial vehicle until tomorrow. LEARN FROM THIS, CDOT!

I’m currently texting with a buddy stuck in that mess on the other side of Hoosier. Just told him 70 opened.

um maybe this is a dumb question but do they do anything to inform people of this or just let the traffic pile up at 7 when they do their blasting? I sure hope this stops traffic for a few hours and that the pass is closed!

I-70 WB closed sometime prior to 5:30am due to a crash at Genesee, it's a parking lot all the way from Chief Hosa down to Lookout exit. Bet that makes it all the way to 470 in the next 10 minutes.
