It's not the feds fault for regulating it. It's CDOT's fault for designing and building a road that doesn't meet federal HW standards. This is easily one of the dumbest projects I've ever seen executed.

CSP said they wouldn't patrol it because they couldn't do any enforcement safely even if they did. Would think that the system that assesses tolls could hand out fines as well, but that's probably a little "out there" for CDOT.

Just learned today that if you were thinking Your Way was fucking with the road intentionally, you're probably right. Apparently, CDOT signed a contract with them that provides zero clauses for performance guarantees and enforcement, and that that YW employees have been more or less instructed to exact retribution for CDOT criticism through unnecessary closures and other mismanagement. It was mentioned that it took CDOT a year to convince YW not to only work between 8am and 5pm... I guess it hadn't been stipulated that YW would try to strategize around traffic patterns... So all those 9am and 5pm road closures were some obnoxious combination of intentional malfeasance and general laziness. Nice job CDOT.

btw that shoulder lane was nice the other day, was able to do 80mph through idaho springs not sure why they had a big red X over the lane though, instead of having to pass on the right like usual I got to actually pass on the left like normal person

Doesn't seem like there's any enforcement. Just the red X. I've seen plenty of people ignoring it and blowing past in the closed lane. So dangerous because it's supposed to be a breakdown lane when it's not open. Someone broken down is going to be slammed into at 65 mph someday.

Today was downright retarded. 6 west from abasin was at standstill traffic for the first 2 miles up the pass. No plausible reason whatsoever. Cdot worker was stopping the line every 10 or so cars. Slow going until about Georgetown. Tomorrow is gonna be rough for sure.

Hmm, cruised right on through today at around 2:30 from Empire. Nice day with the pup up on Berthoud. Jumped onto the frontage rd to bypass an accident in Lawson, but was smooth sailing still. Fun to watch the fucks in the pay lane sitting in the same shitshow as everyone else.
