    Ha, I ended up leaving 2-3 hours early on Thursday, got out maybe 1:30pm? Managed to avoid all shit shows. There was an accident on top of Vail Pass, and the west side was a little dicey, but other than that, it was smooth sailing. No idea what happened later, but everyone in my crew did make it to Fruita that night (the Salida peeps had to go through Saguache because Monarch was closed).

    Quite the early season display on west side of wolf creek yesterday morning around 11 - to be fair it seemed like it was a quick pulse of snow that sent conditions south, but from truckers to tourists not many folks were ready for prime time.

    There is one stuck on Berthoud pass as well. Right in the middle of a switchback with no chains. There was no way he was making it up or down with no chains. No idea what is going through these guys minds.

    the added 3rd lane from frisco to silvy is great, but can't fathom why they got rid of the 2nd turn lane, there's so much room they coulda kept it as is.

    the third lane down to trailerthorne is the bomb
    yeah the exit is a screwy after 30 years of exiting one way now it's different so it does suck but

    traffic exiting the frisco exit a few days ago was backed up past the rest area
    nice to just keep going and hit the 2nd exit

    walked to happy hour the other day and I walked faster than the cars were moving in breck

    this time of year takes patience an with shit ass snow it takes even more than normal

    As someone who have been sucking on the ski town economy tit for decades, I think about it more like "can you imagine if they didn't?".

    But yes, there is a certain weirdness to the fact that people pay tens of thousands to come to a ski area, wait in lines everywhere, for a half open ski area yet I won't even drive into town let alone go to the ski area for these three weeks.
