Not i70 but does anyone have info on road conditions for route 14 through poudre canyon? Heading to Denver from SLC and riding back on a moto. Would love to avoid being eaten by a pothole.

Early this morning was absolute mayhem on Eisenhower... must have passed 20+ vehicles that were stalled, jackknifed, or being towed/pushed. How do they hand out tickets to all the chain skipping trucks? At least another 20 vehicles were barely making headway like <5mph. At points you literally had to slow to a crawl to zig zag through multiple stalls. I don't even know how they didn't do a safety closure, but glad they didn't. Narrow studded snows were fine in the frozen slush.

It doesn’t really get the traffic to cause the damage like I-70.
We came back over Cameron Pass in October and we were literally the only car on the road. I would highly recommend this route.

The amount of fire damage from Cameron Peak and East Troublesome fires is mind boggling.

    OFFICIAL I70 BITCH THREAD....

People have lost their fucking minds. Driving back on EB I70 near Evergreen today, I was behind 3 vehicles, one in each lane, all going about the same speed (70ish). Some asshole comes flying up then passes everyone on the shoulder, almost hits vehicles merging in from the upcoming entrance, swerves back into the right lane, then slaloms back and forth through traffic. Again, the flow of traffic was going 70, not like 50. He almost lost it in the breakdown lane, with all the sand and junk.

Then on Rte 6, another asshole decided to go from the left lane, all the way across three lanes of traffic, to barely make their exit at the last possible second. Almost took out two cars while doing it.

It’s fucking mind boggling to witness the recklessness of some assholes.

The year I lived in UT was the scariest year driving of my life. There are bad drivers everywhere, but there are the worst drivers in UT, especially when you mix in even more Cali folk

Fuck, I wouldn't do either of those. I'd rather park on a random street in Golden.

Is it a beater? Empty out the entire contents of interior and leave glove box and center console open, totally empty. Maybe, just maybe, it'll get skipped in terms of smash and grab. But for a car there that long, it's bound to gather some punk's attention. They could still just outright steal it or your converter. It's been on the news for awhile now how unsafe all those lots are. No f'n way would I park there, and especially for that long.

I'd pay for a shuttle from Summit for peace of mind. Or take the bus. As inconvenient as that is, it's better than coming back to broken windows, or not having it be there at all.

The 61st and Pena station is what I use. Has covered parking so no hail storm can fuck up the car. Never had an issue there.

That's the PnR where my catalytic converters were stolen so not that one.

Assuming you're going to the airport, I'd rather pay to leave my car at USAirport parking.

Or park in a neighborhood (maybe there's a mag who could offer a driveway or a spot in front of their house) and Uber to the bus stop.

It's a dinged up 10 year old subie. I parked at 40th and Airport for 2 weeks in Feb no issues.

2 people r/t in shuttles is $300+ and it adds about 75 minutes of transit time each direction with a transfer and potentially crammed shoulder to shoulder in a van of people coughing .... even more time if you are waiting for someone with a late flight. It's even more time when you gotta leave work and drive home first. And if your flight gets delayed 5 hours so you miss the last shuttle home? You get to stay in a hotel and miss part of work the next day. That happened to me in March.

US Airport parking... $14/day vs $9/day for Pikes... why would you ever do that?

    63rd and Pena $7/day plus $21 r/t /person on the train.

    40th and Pena $4/day plus $21 r/t /person on the train.

    JeffCo $0/day plus $21 r/t /person on the train.

US Airport parking: there are coupons making it $10/day, at least that's what I paid 2 months ago. So a buck more than Pikes Peak. Seems more secure; there are always people working there, it's not a wasteland like Pikes Peak. Plus they pick you up at your car and drop you off at your car. That's helpful to me.

I have a 17 year old SUV, parked at 40th and Pena for one night and it cost me 6 thousand bucks (I only paid $1k of that because of insurance). You've been ok parking there, feel free to continue doing so, but I wouldn't do it ever again unless things change.

@Summit you're welcome to park at my place near Tennyson. Uber/Lyft from here may be a wash compared to your other options but my wife or I are always here and there are 2 cameras covering the spot. Have yet to have either of our cars messed with in 3 years. We'll be gone most of June however, so security will be reduced during that stretch.
