I'm usually a wait it out guy, but I'm leaving on a hut trip tomorrow and had to get my dog to the sitter, and my friend has a flight out tomorrow morning too. We knew exactly what we were getting into, I'm not bitter.

As it turns out, that dead stop was due to a bad accident. But oddly, being at a dead stop for 20-30 minutes didn't slow down the overall trip at all, it just cleared out most of the pass down to Empire, so when we finally got through, traffic flowed almost all the way to Empire.

The people driving over the pass to avoid the tunnel thinking that the pass will be faster always crack me up to. I always wonder how many of them thought that they were going to "Beat Traffic" by leaving early and driving over the pass.

Never too busy on the hill, but main parking area was full before 9am which is just wild.

Not to mention the pure idiocy of folks parking directly under the Sisters paths on 6.

I find humor in the annecdata:

New to town WFHr's whining that they can't get to the grocery on Saturday AM because of ski traffic while letting you know "they ski weekdays because they have flex schedule".

My wife's city friends complaining that they have been priced out of buying an STR whilst saying that "they" need to build more lifts.

Pretty much, but what if I70 had 10 lanes, a monorail, and a fleet of 1000 Bustangs? What then? It's easier to get to the towns and ski areas that are already at capacity?

I70 is a self regulating valve. It really works just fine how it is. So some people can't figure it out and still leave at 3pm on a Sunday then complain about a 3hr drive to their house in Highlands Ranch. Big deal.
