There's no way anything is going to be dry this weekend. There's still a decent amount of snow cover, and what isn't covered in snow is a muddy mess. Most of the trails north of Denver (Boulder, Lyons, Longmont, Loveland) are straight-out closed.
Thanks. I have not been down to Denver in a while. Even the stuff more out on the plains like Green Mountain or Marshal Mesa area?
^^^ still wet... melting good this weekend but will be a muddy mess.
Unfortunately, yes. I think the only hope for getting on dirt this weekend is riding dirt roads, and I'm not even sure if those will be dry yet. I'm going to check out a few this afternoon in North Boulder and can report back later.
Anyone know about conditions at Lake Pueblo State Park?
Also, from BMA's facebook page:
ANDCity of Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks is closing trails due to mud as well:
"Greenbelt Plateau, Marshall Mesa and Flatirons Vista Trailheads will be closed. Doudy Draw trailhead will remain open to access the South Mesa trails but Doudy Draw trail will be closed. Marshall Mesa, Marshall Valley, Coal Seam, High Plains, Greenbelt Plateau, Community Ditch, Cowdrey Draw, North and South Flatirons Vista, Prairie Vista and the North and South Fork of Spring Brook Loop Trails will also be closed. The Goshawk Trail would remain open and accessible from either the Fowler Trail or County Road 67."
The City is hoping to stay on top of mud closures this year as a first step toward getting our trails into better shape.
"MUDDY TRAIL CLOSURES at Sunrise Friday: Picture Rock Trail at Heil Valley Ranch, Nelson Loop at Hall Ranch, and the access trail at Rabbit Mountain Open space will be closed until further notice."

For those interested: I just did a quick drive out on the dirt roads in North Boulder (like Oxford, Plateau, etc) and they should be fine to ride by tomorrow afternoon. Mostly packed damp dirt with a few muddy spots, but I bet they're perfect by tomorrow. I'll probably do at least a couple 20+ mile rides this weekend out there.
The Niwot Loop and LoBo trails- both essentially dirt bike paths with crushed gravel- are still either snow-covered or way too muddy to ride for a while.
I don't get riding on dirt roads when the skiing is so good... fuck the crowds.
Come back down to Erie and stay a while, then tell me what you'd rather do if you had to drive up every time. Personally, I can't fucking stand I-70 traffic and the snow isn't good enough to justify dealing with it and the crowds. Plus, there's plenty of other shit to do in town to pass the time, too.

Not mtb but I had a great ride up and down Lookout Mtn
I happen to have tomorrow off and am thinking about driving to pueblo to ride at the lake. Anybody wanna go? Leaving from Ft. Collins, have lots of space. Hope to get a nice long ride in.
Pueblo trails are good to go! Just be ready for some tumbleweeds in the canyons.
Well, this wind pretty much sucks balls... but hopefully it'll dry out the trails quicker so we can ride later this week.
I rode 50 on the road both days. Dang there were lots of people out. North Table Mtn rideable FYI.
Fool, I might be going down there on Sat/Sun.
Word in town is N.Table IS good to go.
I've never been down to Pueblo to ride. Is it worth the drive?
Sounds like Hall Ranch is good to go up to the Nelson loop too. I bet with this wind and warmer teams this week, there will be plenty to choose from in town by the weekend.
Driving back from the mountains yesterday, I saw a bunch of bikers headed up Dakota Ridge/Matthews-Winter Park (near Red Rocks). It's so rocky, I imagine it dries out pretty quick.
