I have thrown out visiting some of the ruins but no one really jumped at that.
Not sure what time you get into BZE, but maybe consider doing the cave tubing after you arrive (or early the next day) and spend the first night on the mainland (not in Belize City). Much easier and cheaper than going back and forth from Ambergris to the mainland. Plus, if you're taking a puddle jumper to San Pedro, you can fly out of the muni airport for a fair bit less than BZE.

We've always done not-so-secret beach (takes a while, about 4 Belikins) if we're staying on the reef side due to the massive sargassum problem that only seems to get worse every year. Total tourist trap compared to 10 years ago, but no sargassum on that side. Blue Bayou is ok but Sunset Palace would be my recommendation, especially if the sea lice are out in force as there is a lot more seating out of the water + more chill. There are also some solid flats just to the south that you can fish for bones.

For scuba, the guides at Hamanasi in Hopkins are great. You don't have to be a guest there, but the boat can fill fast. Diving at Turneffe Islands Atoll, Lighthouse Reef Atoll and Long Caye can be pretty good. I'd go to those places before the Blue Hole. I did notice the water wasn't as clear this past summer and a local told me it is sand from all the of dredging to the south.

Cahal Pech is the closest Mayan ruin.
It means Place of Ticks. Didn’t see any ticks. And it’s small. But still cool.
Xunantunich Is larger and more impressive.

Inland pools and waterfalls are a nice break from the beach.

Flying to San Pedro in 2 weeks.
Landing in Belize City at 130pm.

Considering customs and airport size, and no checked baggage...
When should I book the twin prop to San Pedro? The seem to run every 20 minutes.
    Is an hour enough?

I would say yes. It’s a pretty quick process but I think I would go the hour and 20 minute option just to be safe

The whole process was a little chaotic when we went a year or two ago. I think it was more the check in process for the puddle jumper. We ended up hiring a porter which was super helpful since we had lots of bags with four people. He basically got us to the front of the line and on the next flight. I'm not sure how much it matters what your reservation says vs next up and fill the plane. That being said, an hour might be a little tight but doable especially if you're flying solo. Try to get a jump on the crowd if you can get to the front of the customs line and don't have to wait for a bag.

I've always done one hour including a duty free stop (imported booze is spendy in BZ). They fly those things so often that they will usually just put you on the next one if you're early or late. BTW, they hold 14 (including the co-pilot seat) and Tropic will give you a discount if you have a big crew and book the entire plane. Did that last year when we had 14.

    Belize

Hitting the duty free for booze is a very important stop! Might be the best selection in the entire country. Belizean rum is a close cousin of kerosene

The wine selection was really fun because I bought some whites I just can’t find here in Washington, (like from South Africa). I was there in August and I remember customs being surprisingly quick. The line moved fast.
