So how are BCH and BTC different?

It caused a hell of a dip. I was driving and couldn't take advantage.

    Guess Ill buy some BCH.
It was looking strange on my way out to the gym yesterday so I sold at 17.3k a portion of my stack and put a buy in at 16.8k and I could not believe it hit when I was driving. But I missed a huge dip which kind of sux. Lightcoin is the real bcash.

Hmmmm whats going to happen when BCH trading opens at 9pst? Will BTC sink again? I might sell a little, can't decide. TA on these charts is hard with all this going on.

Well maybe everyone will try and sell their bch and buy btc in which case HOLD...

we'll see I guess but the people I have been hearing from are psyched to get out of BTC- with all the blocks full it makes it too challenging and takes too long to be used for transactions + much higher fees to cash out.
but yea then the people that dont know much but are hyped on BTC may just buy on any dip anyway

sounds like BCH et al will try to keep blocks not totally full which creates more liquidity and will be less volatile. which I think will then help more adoption by merchants and people
but I'm also just a ski bum

Either way, I'm still not impressed with BCH. As I have said before, the OGs will always be with BTC.
Cmon man. The creator of Litecoin just liquidated his position. Don't over think this thing with technical gobbledegook. You either get out before everyone else does, or you get left holding the bag. There is no try here. It's either do or do not.

They (even you) can submit a improvement proposal. Its not like BTC can't be improved. I think the most recent proposal was Segwit2x. What BTC does not have is a CEO like bcash so no one to "sell it" or talk down the competition (BTC). I not even 100% sure bcash is a decentralized cryptocurrency....

For what it's worth, I swapped all of my BCH for ADA last night. I figured it was free money anyway, so why not? But it'll be really interesting to see how the BTC/BCH/BTG thing plays out over the next couple of months.

Fun little stat from the NYT:
Separately, a hedge fund dedicated to virtual currencies released its return to investors: 25,004 percent (not a typo).

Ok , dumb question. I never know what to get my Dad for Christmas. He already has everything he needs and most of what he wants. He is retired and bored. So I always end up getting something that I just know he is interested in that represents the zeitgeist of the world at the moment. This year is apparently the year of the cryptocurrency. Can I buy him some iotas or whatnot and give it to him on a piece of paper? Thinking like $20 worth for him to obsess over for awhile.

You are looking for a paper wallet. You could load up a Ledger Nano.

Here's a dumb question, and I'm definitely asking it in the wrong place. I have an exceedingly small stake here, I'm doing this for fun and to learn. Does coinbase offer any sort of tools for planned trades? Stoplosses or others way to set conditional sells or buys? All I see is a method for doing periodic/scheduled buys.

There is a place to set alerts. Move to gdax if you want a more precise tool.

Are tons of people selling off BCH and it will go down? https://www.gdax.com/trade/BCH-USD

DroBro with the blow by blow. So the bitcoin road is all forked up now? What's the bottom? You got a good grip on it, Dro. It's come so far since I started this thread, it's not the same crypto that had me so charmed in the get-to-know-you phase of our relationship. Were people buying in even when it was over $15K? Now I've lost millions cause mud was gonna throw me a bone when he hit like $200 mil. Now he's back to his $25 buy in?

    Coinbase is for the marks

I seriously almost used my credit card on there multiple times.

I have the next 50 years to do ecoin arbitrage

Still sitting on 20k doges, lost about 110k in doges in the great Christmas doge wallet hack of 2013. I fauceted and acquired without mining. Nobody has mentioned irc. If your doing coins, irc is the spot.

I bet btc walllets get hacked this weekend, I bet 20k doges
